On the other hand, I would only sell my GT3 CS to get a Porsche race car or a GT3 RS. The GT3 is still boring to drive in traffic and on highway.

GT3 CS
If that is true, then the comments that the obviously biased Top Gear hosts made about how great the GT3 is and that it's the "best 911 ever" is even more unbelievable. Fortunately, I live out in the country. 30 minutes for Washington D.C. and 30 minutes from Annapolis, and the country roads out here are absolutely perfect. I can go out for a 75 mile Sunday morning drive, see little or no other cars on the road, and not hit a single traffic light. I guess I'm lucky.

I think the better term is underutilized.

Just IMO.

Well put.

997 GT3 in U.S. may have a sunroof too. Sounds like too many compromises relative to what we have. Although the PAG/PCNA marketing spinmeisters will trumpet the increase in HP and gloss over the obvious shortcomings and the media will tell everyone how great it is ("best ever", etc).

I don't think they can pull the ole "best ever" It was 31 years before anyone made that claim over the 73 rs,....Our cars will reign supreme for awhile

Default people who are hot and cold

i think, for better or for worse, our GT3s were the flavor of the month for many buyers who can attain buying/leasing the latest and greatest $75-100k car. These are the same people who bought and sold M5s, M3s, S4s, Z06s, Vipers, etc. These cars are "stretch" cars for this type of buyer, who goes out of their way to get the car they "have to have" until they are either 1. bored 2. on to the next whim 3. can't afford it now 4. wasn't all that they dreamed of or what have you.

i think the GT3 is a bit of flash for some and thus hasn't been bought like past classics such as the 73RS, original M3, etc.

Sadly, IMO this is why so many are for sale

Just drove my brother's EVO tonight (which I sold hos 9 months ago to get the gt3) after having taken the gt for a ride earlier today Man, these gt3's are amazing cars, so right. They will be as good in 20 years as they are today. There will certainly be faster cars but none that produce a better driving experience.

IMO, it's really quite simple: 997S and the average Porsche driver is not looking as "raw" a car as the GT3. Of course some people are preparing to buy the next fast new toy from Porsche, which should be the 997turbor or 997GT3, but again the average will probably be happier with the 997S or 997turbo. I just drove a 997S and was amazed at the looks and performance. You can drive it as a comfortable sports sedan or with the PASM on to push it at the track. For the average driver it's just about as fast as the 996GT3 without the compromises.

when i bought mine in february it had 1100 miles on it and an in service date of feb 04 (i have 8600 miles on it now). i think a lot of the people that buy our cars don't really realize what they're buying till they have it for a little while, thus we see a lot of low mile cars for sale.

it's funny, i get bored with cars, recently bought and 2005.5 s4 (traded in my m5) (now s4 is for sale), after 2 months realized i didn't really like the s4 and bought another m5. sometimes you (meaning me) don't realized how much you like something till you don't have it any more. when i got back into the m5, it was like being back home...ahhh, i love that car, best sports sedan ever made imho.

best production track car: gt3 (haven't driven some of the exotics and i'm biased)
best sports sedan: e39 m5

whoohooo! 3 days at buttonwillow starting tomorrow...

Since we have snow where I live, I've driven Audis for over 20 years as well as Porsches. Got a great deal on a leftover S4 6 speed last fall and love it. Great year around car (with winter wheels and tires of course). Torque, power, reasonable comfort, and somewhat stealth, which is important! Used to have a 540i sport 6 speed- a great car, but I prefer the S4, especially in the winter. Audi interiors are the best, and no damned I-drive!!!!! And it isn't Bangleized!

I agree that the new Audis aren't Bangleized, but what's with that weird chin/beard thing they have going on with the front grill?

I'm thinking that the RS4 would make a fine complement to the GT3, big shnazz and all.

Yeah, I think that would be a fun car if you HAVE to have a sedan. You could buy one hell of a nice track car for that kind of scratch...

I agree. Audi S4 vehicles offer a great alternative to a P Car.

As for Chris Bangle. I hope to own either a Porsche 996 GT or a BMW M3 BEFORE bangle ****ts it up.

I love the current M3 look. it is european muscle with German attention to performance and detail.
