I have a few reasons to sell myself:

1. Having $100K parked in my garage 26/30 days
2. Not enough track events in my area (PR)
3. Will never be a daily driver
4. Can't (or shouldn't) see 8000 rpm beyond 2nd gear, thus agree on the "boring street" comment.
5. I've been used to trying new cars when they come out.

Reasons to keep:

1. Nothing new is out or coming that will interest me more than keeping my GT3.
2. Ignore 1-4.
3-1000. Find them in this forum.

Not for sale, not for now.

I think that the poor daily driver is a very valid reason. OTOH, the RS6 is a great daily driver (so I have heard). I also wonder how may RS6s were bought on speculation, vs what always seems to happen with the "newest Porsche".?

Default My GT3

How soon we forget. Let me try to renew your memory as I tell you the feeling I experienced when I bought the car, got it home, and the reason I bought it. I cant' describe the feeling when I first saw the car. I can only tell you that I knew I was going to buy it. That's just like I felt when I bought my home and Harley. I guess waiting for her was like waiting for Christmas. And the first time I took her out for a long drive, which was yesterday, I think I smiled for the whole trip.

I describe it as a bull rider sitting on a bull inside the pen. The car is just waiting for the pen to open up to show you what she's got. I watched the guys at Top Gear (an auto testing t.v. show by the British) and all of them said that the GT3 was the best 911 ever. These guys test drive the worlds best cars and if they say that, I believe them. It's definately the best 911 ever for me because she is my first one. Can you tell I'm passionate about cars?

I don't mind the car sitting in my garage, I didn't buy her as a daily driver. But when the rigors of work, or just life in general become intolerable, I crank her up and they all fade away. Will this GT3 be the one remembered by Porsche enthusiast as the best GT3? I don't know. I do know that it's my GT3 and it's plenty good for me.

XLR8,

The Top Gear show is a auto testing program produced by BBC that is know for favouring British made cars and pissing on anything German. Jeremy Clarkson himself has demonstrated in one program how to destroy a 911 and he should be shot for that. He hates all things Porsche and swears by the F cars.

On the other hand, I would only sell my GT3 CS to get a Porsche race car or a GT3 RS. The GT3 is still boring to drive in traffic and on highway.

Ciao,

Johannes E.

I'm the third owner of my '04 SY GT3, bought it in January with 12,500 miles on it. It now has near-15,000 miles. And that's with 2 months in the shop getting its front-end repaired from taking it into the tire barrier on the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca.

The prior two owners traded it in for 996TTs as the GT3, according to them, was too rough for the streets and demanded too much attention to drive (as I've proven). It's just not the right car for someone looking for a limited-production status machine. It's a driver's car, and many of those who purchased it are different kind of "drivers" than it demands.

Boring on the street?!

Has the world gone mad?

I don't own one, but I've driven a dozen or so (by way of setting up suspension and alignment on the things) and while not all GT3's seem to deliver the same crisp throttle response and their suspension wears out very quickly (10K miles) I'm astonished to hear "boring." Driving on the street can be boring, but this is not a boring car.

Good. I'm pleased to see that, once again, using the biggest font in bright red is the best way to win a debate around here ...

Another POV: Yesterday was the first anniversary for my GT3. I've posted 13K+ miles, driving every day and some autocrossing. Zero maintenance (other than 2 oil changes I've done and new PS2s), zero problems, 200% FUN. I wouldn't drive anything else on the street, on the highway, on the track or autocross. Unbelievable car.

Throw some GT3 Euro seats, a cage, lower the suspenion and add some two piece rotors, and oh, don;t forget the LWT flywheel and it shakes, rattles and rolls. Not fun to drive on the street.

Carrera GT

I'm really "astonished" when I read your comment "their suspension wears out very quickly (10K miles)" when you don't even own a GT3. My car has clocked up 30K miles incl. autocross and trackdays on R compound rubber and show no signs of a worn suspension. Would you care to elaborate?

Cosmos, that's my car you just described and it's no fun around town and clocking miles on dead straigt highways.

Ciao,

Johannes E.

I dont get why people are selling the 996 GT3 for the 997 GT3 when the technology hasnt been 100% confirmed and what has been published so far is that the 997 GT3 will be a 3.8 from the 997S juiced with a little more power, that engine has still be dealing with RMS issues, it seems that the 996 GT3 is more desirable from what has been published so far, if a person bought the 996 GT3 and is selling it for the 997 GT3 and doesnt care about the technology, wet vs. dry sump, seems a GT car is the wrong car for them. Just IMO.
