Default need part# for GT2 battery

Can one of the form members who has a GT2 look at the part # on the top of the battery. MY 2 has a 999-611 060-20 MY 3 has a 999-611-080-07. The 2s battery is only a 60amp and the 3 is a 80 and much larger. Just wondering if the orginal battery went bad was replaced by the dealer with a smaller and cheaper one. thanks for the help. carl

Can't give you the number but the GT2 battery is small to save weight. Mine went dead and I replaced it with an identically sized unit at a battery place. Nothing special - it's just a battery.

There is only one battery listed for the GT2 and it is a 70 Ah. Part # 999.611.070.20.

The 60 Ah battery (999.611.060.20) is listed for the GT3.

The MkI street GT3, the Cup cars and the RS/RSR use a smaller 50Ah battery. I don't have the PN handy. It might be slightly ligher and so be worthwhile.

If you want to reduce weight, a Hawker Odyssey would be
a good choice, but realistically, why reduce weight at the front of the car?

Thanks for the info, looks like a group 48 from autozone, or a optima and build a base for it. I am not too concerned about saving weight in the front of the car.

A 48 from Autozone is the way to go. It has a 2 year free replacement warranty. Same battery is sold by Sears for more money but you get an extra year on the warranty. It is a bit smaller than what you have but I doubt it gets below zero where you live.

Great to know, I still wonder why one 02 GT2 has a 80amp and mine has a 60 amp. Did it come that way or did the dealer replace it? Is there any date stamped on the battery ? carl
