15K Service...?

I just paid $280 for oil/filter change at the dealer. -Won't be doing that again!
The local race shop quoted me $131 for the same service (and oil) after the fact! Almost $300 for oil and filter is a crime!

When doing a DIY oil change on the car, just be VERY careful with the drain plug on the oil tank. You must hold the nut on the tank while loosening the drain plug or you can risk damaging the tank. Other than this little issue, the oil change is easy and can be done in about a half hour..
So with $50 in parts (oil, filter, and 2 crush washers) the dealer must be getting close to $500 per hour.....

Noel, my misunderstanding, I have four corners of OEM pads that I'd gladly give to you, they are new and boxed, but I don't have rotors. I'm using Cup car rotors on mine now having worn out my second set of discs in just 3,500 miles. Seems they last about as long as my MPCS's!!? Anyhow I'm hoping that the Cup car discs will last a bit longer!
Carl, I might take you up on that too, I'm just at 10,000 miles, and would like to do a full fluid flush, and a general inspection of all parts for wear and tear. Do you have a manual? (I'll take it in to my dealer for the stamp at 15,000, they charge 280 for a service, the real reason to do it is you get the stamp, and it goes on the car's official history on the Porsche computer system.)

I have all the tools and manuals, and a power bleeder for the brakes. I also have a laser toe gauge and digital camber gauge. There are no warranty issues with doing your own maintenance as long as you have documentation. I always take pictures, when I had my F355 I used to video tape all work. Remember its illegal for a manufacturer to force you to go to a dealer for maintenance that you have to pay for. The dealer stamp is BS I rather have photos of it being done . On these cars it comes down to fluids, hoses, belts and rotors. I'm more than happy to help I hate to see the $ 300 oil changes. Carl
