I also posted this over in the DE forum, but not sure that you guys are over there that much, so I'll ask it here too.
This is a totally hypothetical question, what would you change to get a little more from our local track?
I thought about it a lot, and I think that the one part of the track that is a bit dull is the 6-8 stretch, so I thought a loop returning us into the slope of the hill could create a steeply banked parabolica that would then shoot you down towards the inside of what is now 8-9 thru some 'esses', then have hard left followed by a right opening up into what is now 8, meaning it would be an increaing radius blast towards what is no 9.
Any other thoughts, suggestions or pipe dreams?

Macfly,
Interesting idea, however from a safety standpoint your new track comes to close together along turn 5 and the new portion and along the main straight. A few concrete walls could solve that, but it sure would be hard on cars.
However if we could just 86 that new go cart track and head up into that hill, by taking a left instead of a right as you crest the hill to 6 and wind your way back down to a left back onto the straight before 8, then on to 9 etc... It would slow things down, but anytime you put a track on the side of a hill, it has got to be interesting!
But then you would miss all that fun (read pucker factor) going through the bumps of 8 at 125+!

Macfly next thing I know you will be designing golf courses too. Maybe we could integrate a bridged water section into the track as well. We could call it the Macfly moat.

changes to willow springs....hmmmmm
1) a nice 4 or 5 star hotel....maybe a casino.....somthing with a nice
pool......of course hotel would have to have a "detail " service
2) enclose the track. Like the astrodome....and pump some nice cool air in.....
3) a club house......were you can view...the hired drovers droving
your car aound.
4) full service gas station....clean your windows, check the oil....etc

That is something I have considered, and in my mind, (not in my sketch) I have very big, clean and safe run off with no walls in any proximity of anything. Banked runnoff and soft catchment is all planned out in my mind. I guess I should post a better draft of the idea! 5's runoff is actually quite far up the hill, think of the view cresting 6, while the parabolica would be down on the level of the start/finish straight, banked into the slope.
Indeed!
But then you would miss all that fun (read pucker factor) going through the bumps of 8 at 125+!That's why I thought that the opening radius turn onto what is now 8 would give one a really fun full power slingshot that would be a blast to drive, plus you might well reach 120 exiting to 9, and make up for loosing 8 as it is!

From a pro racer with lots of time at that track:
And from a second racer with lots of time there:
Sheesh. Someone tell him that the 6-7 is a straight to see if you have any

1) The track becomes totally unsafe.
2) every single car in existence (including my pickup truck, and Excursion) would be able to easily go flat through turn eight.
3) everything except for my pickup and Excursion could go flat through turn 9.

Ahhh, EJ, what a joy it has been not to hear from you for so long!
Have you ever been to Willow? No.
Did you see anywhere that I mentioned removing 6-7? No.
This addition simply adds another dimension to our local track.
Now to answer the question nobody asked your buddies who have been here, what once or twice?
Sheesh. Someone tell him that the 6-7 is a straight to see if you have any ***** for T8. If you do, then that part is fine. If not, then you try to redesign the part that scares you.
Big talk from a little man? Going thru turn 8 100 times in a day, which is what we do when we rent the track, it isn't scarey in the GT3 (this is a GT forum incase you hadn't noticed). It gets to and goes thru turn 8 at 120-5. Big deal, so what? Now granted if you are in a Formula Atlantic, or even a turbo Radical and can get thru there at 150+ it may not be so ho-hum.
And from a second racer with lots of time there:
Who, and in what cars?
1) The track becomes totally unsafe.
why?
2) every single car in existence (including my pickup truck, and Excursion) would be able to easily go flat through turn eight.
and what is wrong with that? Ever been to Barber? This simply adds more Barber style curves.
3) everything except for my pickup and Excursion could go flat through turn 9.
If you aren't flat thru 9 you obviously don't know how to drive this track anyway.
EJ, so you took the time to make a poll of your locals, when the question was asked of LA locals, that isn't Loisianna, bubba.
EJ, why are you such an ***?

Hey McFluffy, how is it that you get to post your stupid opinions, but I don't get to reply without being called names and you making racial and regional comments about me?
And why did you decide to change your original post? Think of your racial response a little late?
What makes you think I have never been there? I didn't say that. And I can tell you that the experts I quoted have hundreds, if not thousands of more laps there than you. And yes, they are locals out in LA.
You like to think you're the big dog because you have a fancy porsche, but your responses prove that you are just whining racist.
I am sorry you are still so bitter that your candidate lost the election. I am sure there are some good therapists in LALA land helping liberals like you get through it like there are in FL and NY.
Oh and finally, no you're not advocating removing 6&7, but you might as well with your fancy redesign. I mean it sure made the 914 guy happy to know he could beat your fancy GT3 with your new layout. But I guess that is your intent - make the track much slower and easier so you dont get as scared.

Ahhhh, EJ, back again, joy of joys!!
Racial slur? Seems an odd thought, since I have seen your picture, and I know exactly what you look like, you are just another plain old white boy like me.
Regional slur, well that is usually something left to football teams isn't it? Calling you Bubba, and a redneck is in response to both your old name, DTR and your avatar, but humor is generally lost on those who have none.
As to your original answer, it wasn't an interesting opinion about how to improve on the track layout to make it more interesting, it was one of your usual dumb attacks.
"Ohh, look, I can go and make macfly feel like a fool, yippie!"
So transparent, so pathetic, so stupid.
As to editing my post, I did so to fully answer each of your buddies points, which I hadn't done in the original response. I called you an *** in both threads, because you are an ***! Should we really want to see just what an *** you are I still have about a dozen PM's from you from earlier this year revealing your incredibly intollerant, stupid, pig headedness. Your tirade of insults was so extraorinary that I took the time to archive them all, just incase they might make an interesting read for all of us here one day.
If you noticed the answers to this same original question over in the DE forum you'll see several posts saying how boring those drivers find WS, so our crew is not alone. Why you have to wade in with your holier than though, "I fixed my wiring harness and saved planet earth so I know best, and you must be an idiot" dumbass attitude beats me.
It looks to me like the only time we hear from you round here is when you want to come and put people down, and be an ***. You never, ever add anything positive, not once. I wish the Rennlist would ban you for once and for all.
And as for your politics, I'm very glad that to hear that you backed Watt's man in the White House. Isn't it funny who you can find yourself agreeing with.
Oh, yeah, and I guess you're still pissed at me for catching you out in your DTR stupidity too.

Actually I like Moogle's idea .. a corkscrew right off turn 7. There is about 100 foot elevation change between turn 4 and the straight and you only need 50ft to replicate the corkscrew. Another cool idea would be to bank turn 8! It seems you need a 1500lbs car with 2foot wide slicks to confidently flat out through there. Otherwise its just nerve wrecking guess work and seat time to get it just right within a few percent at some 130MPH ..
The corkscrew thing was done at Leipzig but poorly IMO. You can see it in the lower left quadrant of the picture below. To start its not at the end of a straight section, second its a staircase climb to the top and I doubt its even a 50 foot drop. You hardly get the feeling of falling off the edge and its completely boring. At Willow springs it could be done right.

Here's EJ's memoriam to President Reagan, which which i concur absolutely:
Indeed, that is a rather well written and heartfelt piece. Makes the insane tirade of screaming insulting PM's I have from E. J. Feulner III seem even more bizaar. I think he is just a man full of hate, and since he isn't at school any more he can't be the bully, so has to find someone else to pick on, and for that he comes here.
Watt, sorry if my calling him an *** was a bit out of line, but I always speak my mind, and call a spade a spade. Indeed I look forward to the day when E. J. Feulner III contributes something positive to our GT car forum. ("fancy Porsches", as he calls them.)
