The story was that they switched to a softer spring from the 993 RSRs. I have not cross referenced the part numbers on the springs as of yet. I am heading into the shop and will get the front and rear part numbers and see if this is true or not. I will post the info later today when I get home...

The spring with the 993 # has supplemented the 996 #. For the USA there is no longer a 996 front spring for the GT3, it is officialy a 993 #. The reason being no one knows. The answers have varied from being as simple as PAG swicthed manufactuers and hence changed parts #'s; Ran out of 996 springs and these 993 springs will work; PNA requested a softer front spring.....it goes on and on.
The first time asked, I was told that the 993 spring was 1.5 coils shorter and 20% softer then the 996 spring, later I was told that was not the case (all from the same very high up PNA employee), then I was told that the spring was a supplement for the 996 spring and all GT3's have it.
I gave up, the 993 spring appears to be working fine, I don't care, no one with a 996 spring seems to handle better then anyone with a 993 spring...although I have not found anyone else with a 993 spring.
ps. The rear springs are the correct 996#, just the fronts changed.

I know this is most likely a trivial matter, but if anyone ends up driving a GT3 with 993 front springs and another with 996 fronts, I would appreciate they post if they feel a tangible difference or not. Thanks

As has been posted here, the MY05s do indeed have front springs with a new part number. Here is what I see (sorry for the fuzzy image).

My pleasure, Cos. Now if someone can just tell us definitively what, if anything, it means..... (You should have seen the look on my wife's face when I told her that I needed to jack the car up to get a look at the part number on the front springs, and then when I stuck the camera around where I could not actually see directly!)
