Our good friends at Manthey have just announced that the air scoop as found on the rear wing of the GT3 RS is now available for both the MK1 and MK2 models.
It is said to give around 10bhp at speeds over 200kph/120mph.

Rockitman,
We both know there is a load of bull spread about in the tuning game, but i do think this will work. One of the downsides of the cup air filter is the heat soak from the engine at low speeds. I over came this by having un under deck carbon fibre scoop fitted which collects the air from the deck slot and funnels it into the filter, which is now enclosed in this scoop. This has made the car far more responsive from lower rpm's, and i can only think that a scoop air collector above the deck, ala the RS is a good thing.
When i am back home i will try to post a pic. Anyone thinking of the cup filter really needs to think about this as well.
Regards,
Steve

Guy's,
I will agree that the price seems a bit stiff for what it is, but compare it to a set of mufflers or a full exhaust system. Given that this is fitted to the RS as standard, one must assume it's there for a reason.
One of the known problems with the Gt3 is it's breathing, so this must be a good thing. Plus, it means you don't have to fit the complete RS rear wing/deck assembly to get the benefits.
Hey, don't shoot the messenger Guy's!!

It's easy to make claims about HP for air ducts, since they can never be tested on a dyno. I know that when they first put the shrouds on the Cup cars to protect the air filter from sucking hot air, this was supposed to yield 3-4 HP in low speed corners only. At higher speeds, there was enough air being forced in through the rear vents that it didn't make any difference. I suspect these air scoops help a little but do not produce 10 HP and certainly not 10 HP at any rpm or at any speed.
OTOH, 700 Euros is a lot cheaper than buying the full RS deck lid from PAG.

Looks like Manthey´s homepage is being updated (offline), got their new pricelist sent to me. I will probaly install their exhaust system for the GT3 and get them to ajust the suspension setup/alignment. Maybe something more.......sounds like a very skilled Porsche tuner, after what I have heard and read.
Can someone post a pic of the RS air scoop?

I'd buy the friggin' scoop before plunking down for an exhaust system of dubious value. But I suspect a LOT of tuners are knocking off the ram-air duct; patience will likely be rewarded.
