Maxt,
Can you tell me how these scoops are attached to the rear deck lid ?
I was told that Porsche Motorsport stopped selling the air scoops seperately after they found out that the part couldn't be attached afterwards in a safe way.

All Manthey exhausts are not made by Europipe, only some. Regarding the price of Manthey products......when comparing to RUF and Gemballa prices they seem to be around the same level. Anyone experienced otherwise?
I do believe there are differences between the $195 scoop and the 700 euro scoop. Maybe its made of carbon for example??

Gert, I don't know how this scoop is attached to the rear deck lid...I was looking at my brother's GT3RS and looks like it's attached only with some sort of tape (something like this: 3M Acrylic plus tape ).
I was also surprised when I recieved the FVD Newsletter this morning because I remember that Porsche stopped selling this scoop aftermarket!
MaxtroxMGA, yes, maybe the Manthey scoop is made of Carbon fiber...It will be the only reason to have that price!!

It is not attached with tape, most kits are supplied with bolts. I believe the majority of the knockoff ducts are fiberglass, it is too small to worry about a carbon fiber weight advantage. Maybe the Manthey kit is gold-plated, their pricing seems to trend toward precious metals ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I do not take the +18 hp claim even remotely seriously, BTW.

I called and spoke to the folks at FVD today. I asked them for some technical data to backup their HP claims. They said they will fax it to me today or tomorrow and that the data they have is produced by Porsche. The scoop kit includes bolts and glue and has to be painted. More when I get more from them.

Hey Guys,
Here is a copy of the newletter with photos of both our MkI and MkII kits.
FVD GT3 Ram Air Newsletter
The HP increased was measured in a wind tunnel which simulated the 100+MPH winds. I have not seen the dyno, but I am sure they have it (I don't work out of the office).

If you buy the whole GT3 RS rear deck lid, is this molded on, or what are we looking at as far as oe attachment? How much for an RS rear deck? Also whats it made out of on the RS?

The OE RS piece was and is made of fiberglass, appearance is the same, and is attached in the same fashon (not moulded on). I don't think you gain anything by buying the RS deck other than the fact that the piece is probablly painted white (the deck comes painted white) and possibly already attached.

I followed up with my contact at FVD today. He is still waiting for to get an answer "from Germany" for the technical data to support the HP claims. He said "tomorrow for sure". We'll see.

FWIW, "brian" at FVD promised to send me the technical data FVD has in support of their HP claims. I've called and spoken to him twice. Each time he said he would get and fax me the data within 24 hours. To date, I haven't received anything. It's possible, the data doesn't exist. If it did, they'd probably have ready access to it and use it in their advertising! I'm not going to follow up anymore. So that's the end of the FVD Air Scoop story from here.
