Question I dont get it

I don't claim to be the brightest person, but why do you guys go all out on track wheels, R compounds, Six points and top it off with the Techquipment bar???

With all those mods, why not get something like the DAS??

ps. The wheels do look very cool on the car.

I am sure the DAS is the better unit, but I like the way the Techquipment bar integrates with the interior. I might be wrong, but from what I can see the rear carpet has to be removed because of the DAS bars attachment to the rear shock towers.

As quoted by JohninRSF

Have them (or you do this yourself, if you're going to do the bar install) remove the piece of carpet that covers the shock towers (it just pulls right out), and save it for when you sell the car. It sells for around $380. Around the corner from Black Forest is Jim's Auto Upholstery (ask for Brenda, the owner) 858 268-8531. They will make up a piece of carpet to replace the factory piece, with identical carpet, for around $200 that you can use with the bar (the bar will go thru holes in the new carpet to the shock towers. The installation is very neat and looks like it came from the factory that way! And when you sell the car, nothing has been damaged, everything is original and there is no evidence of any modifications.
This is what I did and works well.

The point of the car for me is to have a toy that's fun for DE events (where I drive 8/10's).

Why not get more and better safety gear for DE? In my mind, compared to racing at a DE event I have more control of the driving situation and more choices in my driving style (translate -- I drive slowly through scary, dangerous turns). So, I'm sure the DAS bar is better, but I don't think I need it.

So why anything at all? I like having harnesses because it's more relaxing to hold the steering wheel and the Tequipment bar seems fine for the job I'm asking of myself and the car.

These mods don't make me think it's more than an amazing and comfy street car with a full-leather interior and a radio that's fun at the track. And now with fun (bling) wheels!

Here's another thread that discussed the weight differences of some of the wheel choices for GT3's:

https://rennlist.com/forums/996-gt2-gt3-forum/130029-gt3-wheels.html

The K58's save about 20 lbs of weight compared to the stock wheels.

The wheels are 8-1/2" and 11" (same as stock).

The stock wheel offsets:

front 40
rear 63

What Kinesis offers:

front 41
rear 65

This translates to a difference of 1/32" at the front and 1/16" at the rear.

There was a previous discussion here:
