Default GT3 Wheels

Hi All
I'm new to this group & need a recommendation.

Instead of using the stock wheels & constantly remounting tires. I would like a recommendation for aftermarket wheels to mount a set of Hoosier DOT Slicks, for Autocrossing.....Stock wheels new are just too expensive for this use.............thanks, Ken

I would not suggest using low quality wheels on the track! Here is a list of aftermarket wheels and their weights compared to GT3 factory rims:

Factory GT3 Wheels

18" x 8.5" ET 40 24.91 lbs
18" x 11" ET 63 27.34 lbs

Kinesis:
8.5x18" 20 lbs.
11x18" 22 lbs.

Fikse:
8.5x18" 20 lbs.
11x18" 21 lbs.

HRE Competition:
8.5x18" 18 lbs.
11x18 19.5 lbs.

BBS 1-piece Manthey Magnesium
9x18" ~15.5 lbs.
11x18 ~18 lbs.

May I just add to Bob R.'s posting that no one except HRE will make a wheel to the exact factory offset (40/63), though some come close. This is not a recommendation --just pointing out that it will be important to check offsets.
Two other items: The HRE Competition wheels have been advertised for several months, but have not been produced yet due to a problem with the titanium bolts. Kinesis says that the material HRE intends to use for the centers will crack and not hold up in track conditions --they say they tried it already. You may want to check this out and also the HRE warranty for these wheels will be important, I would think.
Also, you need to figure out the size tires you want to run and integrate that into the decision-making on offset and wheel size to make sure the wheels and tires don't rub on the fenders and wheel wells. There's not much room.

One final thought, I'd bet that very few drivers would notice a 25 lb. weight reduction (from lighter/expensive wheels) in a typical autocross.

would appreciate comments from the group on either the Kinesis K18(or K18R) or the Champion RG5 Monolite for the GT3. specifically wondering about any fit/rub issues. i will be using MPCS tires, same size as spec. thanks.

At Rennsport Reunion I saw some very nice forged BBS wheels on one of the SuperCup cars. The wheels were set up for centerlock but drilled for 5 lug fixing as well. I was told they were Grand Am wheels. I took pictures but do not have camera with me. Anyone know these wheels?

With Kinesis K28's and Corsas, both in stock sizes, I saved 10 lbs on each front and 12 on the rears. No fit or service issues from Wheel Enhancements.

Do you have any more pix of the K28's on your car. Perhaps a still?

Sorry, this is the only other shot I have. We've had a pretty cold and wet spring. When we get a couple of sunny days in a row I plan on doing a nice detailing and get some beauty shots. I'll send you one when I do. Although I love the car and enjoy keeping it nice, you can see she's not a street/garage queen.

Word of warning for the EBay auction with the title "OEM 18" Porsche 911 GT3 Wheels & Tires, Turbo 996 993" - they aren't GT3 wheels. The seller added information (see text after pictures on the auction page) with the part numbers and offsets from the wheels which don't match the GT3 numbers.

They included the picture on Ebay of a GT3 which made me think they were off the car but when i checked the tires they were a different size,

What could the wheels be then?
