Default Harness Users, How do you disable Gong ?

How do you harness users disable the annoying 'Gong' When using the racing harness? Or is there no way ? Does one have to route the 3 point belt behind the seat and connect it there ?

In the earlier cars, pre 2004, you could make a plastic tab shaped like the seat belt buckle to turn off the seat belt light. This did not work in a friend's 2004 GT3. YMMV. You can route the belt behind the seat like you said or go to the junk yard and get another metal seatbelt tab. I believe the Audi ones are the same size as the Porche's.

You can also disconnect a plug beneath the bucket seat. my dealer did it for me, but I have to say I don't know if any other functions are disabled. No problems so far for me.

Robin: Call Mike S., it can be done. He did it on my car -- I just don't know the exact details.

I don't think that works on US cars, it trips the Air bag warning light for some reason. If you have a wiring diagram and some electrical skills, you can solder a resistor with the proper value (I think it is 200 ohms) across the proper pins to fool the DME to think the belt is always buckled.

If anyone has a proper fix for this please post it as I don;t want the light or gong when using the harness.

Actually I had not thought of this problem before.

Just another reason why someone should make an aftermarket PST2 like the VAG-COM people have for VW-Audi...

Here's a screen shot taken from one of the GT3 / Nurburgring movies out there. Note the Seatbelt light. That you probably have to live with, the gong would drive me crazy, & sitting on the 3 point would'nt work either.

until someone has a better way I simply wear my three point belt over the harness. I bet the dealer can turn the gong off with his OBD2 gizmo, The gong is a feature of the 2004 cars, my 2002 GT2 does not do it.
