Added a GT2 (still prefer the GT3)
Completed the collection with the addition of a GT2 a few months ago. Great car but, push comes to shove, I still prefer the 6-3. I know there are a few on the forum who have both; am I wrong?

Oh my! I recall this spec when it was for sale!!!! The natural brown interior is amazing paired with the seal gray. Congratulations. It’s a beautiful car. I think if I could only have one, it would have to be the GT3 as well, but I sure do think they complement each other well. one is raucous and manic and high reving and the other I could almost daily, With the quiet exhaust note and torque everywhere in the power band. I dont have a gt2 yet but hopefully soon!

I know from being on here for a while that you and I have similar tastes. I also have an 08’ Scud and, honestly, if I could keep only one car of the bunch, it would be the 6-3.

Having never driven a GT2 and the likelihood of me owning one is nearly zero, what makes you prefer the GT3? Prior to the GT3 I owned a few Japanese turbo cars and enjoyed them, but wanted to give the NA world a try. Love the high revving nature of the GT3 and the only car I sold that I miss is a 95 rx-7.

Super cool! I feel the same about the gt3...its the last car I would sell. What I love about the gt2 is that its such a different experience (from both the gt3 and the scud, which is even more insane and raw and visceral than the gt3, as you know). I've got about 1.5 hours of drive time in 996 gt2's, and they are also super fun to drive, but just goes about it in a different way that offers a very different driving experience!

The GT3 is much more linear and predictable. The GT2 is closer to a more powerful rwd turbo than it is to a turbo motor dropped into a GT3. Not sure how else to describe it. That said, when the boost builds it suddenly becomes much less civilized. It’s an incredible machine, but for my tastes I still prefer the 6-3 which, in all fairness, is one of the great drivers cars of all time IMO. It still makes me laugh when people see the car and complain about the look of the headlights. They just don’t get it.
It's a brilliant car, in spite of its quirky looks, but that brilliance is what really counts.

I'm in the exact same situation as you (had a GT3 & added a GT2 a some months ago), except I prefer the GT2 much more.
I have a bias because I test drove a 997 GT2 some time ago, and it felt like a modded Turbo (super fast but not exciting/didn't feel alive). I was expecting the 996 to feel similar (like a RWD 996 Turbo). Man was I wrong.
GT3 is stock minus an exhaust/headers
GT2 is stock minus buckets
both have aggressive alignments
I wrote my first reaction down somewhere, but haven't gotten around to posting it yet. The GT2, to me at least, really feels like the GT3 but TT'd. The power delivery is immense and fun (I like the turbo lag sensation), and the feel is pretty close; the GT2 feels more planted but still feels playful, peppy, and alive like the GT3. I was blown away by that.
I'm still more excited by the actual driving experience of the GT2, and I haven't figured out how to really use its power yet. I will say though, the GT3's sound is something which the 2 will NEVER be able to beat. Had I not bought an exhaust, I'd leap for the GT2 every single time, it is FAST.
Simply put, after experiencing the GT2 on backroads, the GT3 feels like a bike with training wheels while the GT2 feels like a Hayabusa.
Now a GT2 with the sound of a GT3... Sign me up!
Is your car fully stock, any mods?

Your analysis is interesting. No doubt the gt2 is fast, but I guess I enjoy the sharpness of the 6-3 more. Perhaps my opinion will change with more seat time. Don’t misunderstand me; the gt2 is amazing. However, I am comfortable after five years with the 6-3 in saying it’s the best car I have ever owned and is the one I would never sell.

agreed, not to be biased, plenty of seat time in both...and really need both in ideal world... I've always thought 6gt3 for daily/winter(ya, I know), and 6GT2 for fun/track time is my ideal setup. Both need a couple key mods to make them 101%.
GT2 is a nastier GT3, Turbo is a Turbo (I've concurrently owned my (now 11+ year ownership) GT2 and a 6Turbo and really enjoyed how different they are)

When it comes to early 2000s cars, the 6-2 is hard to beat - in my book it surpasses the 6-3RS and 360 CS. Can't think of any other contenders unless you open up the field to cars which are ~10x more expensive (e.g. CGT, Enzo, MC12).
On a site note: I think it's essential to compare similar spec'ed cars; e.g. clubsport vs. clubsport. I'd probably prefer a 6-3 with Euro buckets & 6-pt-harness over a 6-2 with the comfort seats.
