Larry - the Alcon does not have emergency brakes in the top hot so they are totally track oriented. The fronts are ok but not the rears.

I am still waiting for Porsche to offer a 350mm x 28mm direct replacement for my rear PCCB`s.......... I will end up doing the same as Bob Rouleau with the 996tt rear conversion if not.

The GT3 straight replacement front rotors are holding up very well with only a few small cracks visible after two track days and two days on the Ring.

Bob, I was thinking about the rear PCCB hat, and maybe finding a Alcon rotor that will fit on that. That way, you get to keep your e-brake.

Larry and Henry GT2 - I agree that something like the Alcon setup would be nice all around. Maybe it will happen especially since PAG is pushing PCCB for everythng now, the market for a replacement will bring solutions.

FWIW my iron rotors and Orange pads stop the car well. Lighter would be nicer but stopping without financial ruin is my first priority

Guys, please enlighten me, I don't understand why swapping the rear disc/hat disables the e-brake system?

How hard would it be to make it enabled and swap the diac/hat?

If it is a case of a small drum brake being inside the hat, surely a simple steel rim can be inserted with some suitable spacers, so it too can float within the new light hat. Can't be that hard to figure out, and I feel there will be a big market for this, as nearly all Gt2/3 owners I know are 'upgraders' by nature.

C'mon Steve, make it happen for us!!

Keep encouraging him Andrew. The GT3 is a small market the GT2 smaller still. Perhaps there are more 996TTs with PCCB out there? Doing it as a one off is a pricey proposition unless you own a machine shop I think.

Gents:

I do not know if an Alcon rotor will fit the Porsche rear hat, but I will see if thats possible. Generally speaking, these are not usually compatible with each other.

There might be an Alcon rotor (non floating) that will work and I'll check on that. Full floating rotors do not permit the use of the E-brake since the alloy hat precludes the use of an iron lined drum.

Bob,....you are right. Doing such a thing on a one-off basis would be very spendy,....

Let me what I can do, though,....

Thumbs up Thanks Steve!

The piece looks pretty simple, it really wouldn't be that hard to make in aluminum, and insert thin steel drum liner, and I think there will be more than enough interest from both steel and PCCB GT2/3 owners to make a full floating rear hat. Maybe if Alcon won't do it how about Brembo, AP Racing or Performance Friction?

I believe Brembo already has a hat that works on the rear axle with e-brake - their HUGE brakes (GT or something like that) are floating rotors. I'd be surprised if people were giving up their ebrake for that kit but maybe so. I think there are a few people on here that have the kit so maybe they can chime in.

Mac- The top hat has to be tough enough to resist the heat if you ever use the emergency brake while in motion. I doubt an aluminium set up would endure it and there would be liability issues. Using cast iron puts us back to the unsprung weight thing again although I think the benefits of same are grossly oversold on a 3,100 lb car.

Bob-D I think Mark-GT2 who had one of the first reported PCCB disasters bought the Brembo kit.

Bob - Yes, Mark does have the Brembo setup. He is in my region & I talked to him at Hershey. He says they are terrific. We'll probably know more after he gets a few more events on the car. I assume that he will be at Pocono over memorial day weekend, and that should be a pretty good test.

So what would be interesting is if Brembo made a rotor that would fit the factory calipers using that hat.

Any word on the rear two piece rotors?

Maybe we can get a Group Buy on two piece rotors for the front and hopefully the rear as well?

Last I heard from Steve I believe Alcon is working on something for the rear.

I was also told that Brembo is working on a full floating kit for the car, new hats/rotors, and slightly taller mounting plates for the rear calipers. There is room to move them out 1/2 inch at the rear, which is required to get a floating disc's float mounts in there.
