GT2 Ohlin Clubsports or R&T or original?
Hi guys,
I have a GT2 with some serious track mods and for my use i´d like to have it more street useable so i´m looking into either changing out the Clubsports to R&T or original. I dont have the original setup except all the arms so goind original would probably cost the same or more then changing to R&Ts.
But can i make the CS softer, lift the car and make it act more comfortable but compentent? Ideally i would like to go with the R&Ts but maybe i can achive similar experience with the CS?
All the arms are ERP or similar solid/monoballs. Will making the suspension softer work with the ERP-products?
Thanks!
/P

Are you referring to KW Clubsport? The KW spring rates are slightly higher (10-15%) than Ohlins R&T from memory. As for original suspension, unless you really want the car to have the original components for collectibility, I would give them a miss. I have recently purchased Ohlins R&T after quite a bit of discussion on the forums to upgrade my otherwise stock GT3. The factory Bilstein are pretty ordinary. My goal was to have a more capable and compliant road car which will see one or two track days per year as opposed to an out and out track set up, and the R&T seem like a nice compromise. I will find out when I fit them I guess.

Thanks,
I’ve got the Ohlin Clubsports with remote canisters.
R/T sounds lovely but I’ll will see next week with the shop what they can do. They handle Carrera Cup cars here so hope they can help out.
I want to take it back to close to original partly due to collectibility and partly cause frankly with the claimed power in this thing it’s scaring me and I won’t track it with this setup but later I’d like to try it on track.

looks like TTX, top of the line stuff...I'd make sure its fresh and consider dialing it in to your liking

Tnx Rob, lets see what the shop will say!
Would you say that the solid arms makes it a much harsher ride or could softening the dampers make the trick?
I have never been in a stock GT2 so can´t refer to that but i guess i´d like to have more stock-ish for value and street driving comfortness :-D
What mods do you have in your DD-GT2?

I'm full metal/monoball as well, Ohlins R&T. Rides way nicer and more composed than stock...too soft for fast smooth tracks but tons of mechanical grip on the bumpy tracks, like my local one.
Monoball adds some NVH but allows the suspension to free float and can ride 'better' than rubber bushings but smaller nuances do not get filtered like a rubber bushing...where good dampers come into play, you have some of the best stuff available (TTX) hands down-just tune it

They’re actually the Ohlins 3 way adjustable remote canister dampers designed for the 996 GT3 R and RS race cars.
I fitted a set to my road going 996 GT2 (after much modification) nearly 14 years ago :

They are superb dampers.
