Default Gmg wc sway bar

Anyone try to fit gmg's wc sway bar to the rear if there 996 gt3. The bar wont go past the center of case halves. Although they have told me its the right bar and pelican shows a pic of it on a mezger motor the cross member it different. Pic may be of a 997?

My car is a factory 2000 c2 with an entire 2004 gt3 swapped in. Motor, trans, crossmembers, uprights ext. Eveything fit including my non adjustable sways (donoy dis not have the sways)

Im thinking i need there disco'ed tt rear bar?

Factory c2 sway works.

Turbo bar, notice the center bend?

Are you using the engine mount spacers? I think the gt3 uses them?

I removed the chassis portion of the c2 motor mount and spot welded in factory gt3 porsche chassis mounts from frame cuts. I am also using the mount and adaptor as they came off the donor car.

This sway adapter is a pmna part for the bladed sway but you could mimic something like it to slightly lower the mount points.

Thx, i probably could fabricate a drop bracket but not sure i want the bar below the rear x-member.

It looks like the Tarett repro gt3 bar is around $400 shipped so i will probably just try to sell off the gmg bar. Looking at the Tarett bar it appears to have an additional bend like the factory unit and the old tt bar. Im guessing gmg wasnt using 996 with a mezger motor to develop their wc996 product? Ill update when i get the other bar.

The bladed swaybar is straight but it literally just kisses the case of a metzger motor. That’s a factory fitment.

You are not alone! I had exactly the same problem fitting the bar 10 years ago. Solution was to remove the engine arrestor & slightly crush the centre of the bar in a 100 ton press. It's been on the car for 140K miles since & has been fine. ISTR there was also some fabrication required to re-locate where the bushes sit on the subframe.

I have seriously thought about "denting" the bar. Its good to hear someone has done it and it has survived. I didnt want to modify it in case i wanted to sell it.

I have the Tarett repro bar on order so we will see how that fits. My concern it that the gmg bar is 25mm and the Tarett is about 21mm. Hopefully since they r adjustable i can dial it in with the front gmg bar. If i cant ill either modify it or swap out the front bar too.

So i figured i would finish out this thread.

I purchased new rennline motor mounts and gt3 bar to make sure i didnt have an install issue with my drivetrain swap and what i found was even the stock bar did not fit properly. So i loosened all the trans mount and motor bolts and leveraged the motor rearward. The trans mounts are slotted so it was relatively easy to shift the motor back. After that was done the gts bar fit easily but the gmg bar still rubbed the engine case. The factory bar is a tick over 20mm and the gmg is 25mm. So my 2 options were ti dent the bar or sand the engjne case. I chose to sand the case as there is plenty of material and it wont compromise strength in that area. I now have about 1.5mm of clearence and im hoping that will be enough with the stiffer rennline motor mounts.
