Cute but I'm not sure what it is supposed to mean. My son did something similar to a Porsche while driving his Civic SiR. I am proud of the kid <grin>. The owner of the Porsche was affronted by being passed by a relatively stock Honda. Just 'cuz we own them doesn't mean we can drive them.

Also, similar to Bob's comment, I always chuckle when someone from a DSM board or the like posts that this Ferrari or that Porsche "isn't all that" because he went to a track event and passed one.

Hey!
I own a GT2, a GT3, an 996 X51 and VW R32 (while I fight about my Cayenne. Don't dis the R32 because of all it is the best value for money ( however, I've had no seat time in the GT3 yet).
The R32 rocks...trust me!

As far as I can tell, no one has dissed any VW in this thread. However, I take it you watched the video. Is it a GT2?

This takes me back a few years..............
My local sportscar club used to hold 2 hillclimbs every year until the insurance companies and person injury attorneys got involved. I used to run a Formula V. For those of you not familiar with the type of car. it's it's an open cockpit single seater constructed from mostly VW Beetle chassis parts and engine. Our "tuned" 1200cc pushrod VW motor put our about 45hp on a good day.
One year a guy showed up in a Ferrari 308 ready to take on the hill. Well, my little 1200 dusted him 3 times. The next year my teammate and myself had t-shirts made up stating, "I beat the Ferrari - HillClimb '85". Everyone who attended got the joke, but yes it's true, I was once faster than a Ferrari in a straight up hp battle against grade and gravity.
Cheers,

Fred the power to weight ratio on a Formula Vee was quite favorable even with the 1200 CC bengine. I drove ne years ago. I still recall the huge negative camber that gave them an odd look.
Colm - nobody dissed you R 32. The video shows a VW of some sort passing a Porsche on a race track. The VW outbrakes the 911 easily and is quicker in the corners. While the 911 is probably not a GT2, the VW driver is better than the guy driving the 911.
Best,

A top notch driver in a Ford Econoline Van could probably beat most of us. I forgot which CART driver used to terrorize Porsches driving a landscape truck carrying a 5000 gallon fertilizer tank. My personal guess is that most Porsches are never driven over 6/10's during the entire life of the car. Most of my doctor friends with Porsches could be beaten by a Honda Civic.
This doesn't imply a sense of superiority on my part. I remember my first day at Road Atlanta driving a Can Am Lola T163 in a Vintage race practice session. Since I didn't know th track (which has a lot of blind corners) I was passed by an MGB. I'll bet the guy is still talking about it. By the end of the weekend, I still couldn't make myself enter that short front straight as fast as the car could go. It sometimes takes a long time to work up to speed on a track you don't know.AS
