Default 2004 GT3 Suspension/Flip it

Somewhere I read that the 2004 GT3 suspension could be "flipped", for track use. don't recall where I read it....ring a bell?

That is a reference to flipping the upper mounts for more camber. I wouldn’t recommend that with OEM sized wheels as you are narrowing the front track as a result. You wanna shim the LCA instead. Flipping the upper mounts is a must when setting up the car to run 9.5 or 10” front wheels with 265-275 tires.

Agreed with PH above.
The front suspension monoball top-hat mounts have 6 holes and 3 studs that are inserted up thru the inner fenders.
Max front camber in factory supplied setting is ~ -2.7 degrees.

To change, you need to;
  • remove monoball "hat"
  • press out existing studs
  • press new or used studs into the other three holes
  • re-assemble
  • re-align

That gives you more clearance and likely more range of - camber adjustment.

Not a must do for you IMO.

Default Leave to to CGFEN

Once again he has come through for me, and potentially other Rennlisters that may have been thinking of this Factory supplied mod. Thanks so m much for the prompt feedback.

Incredible info...I know the protocol existed, Cgfen above has solved the mystery for me.

I ran a 255 and 295 tire combo on my former 993, damn that car would turn in as if on rails.

Hmmmmm, need to ponder this mod.

Thanks to the two responders. As a result I have something to think about.

PH is right...What you want to do is leave it unrotated, push it as far out in the camber slots as you can, then get your camber by shimming the LCAs to widen the front track as much as possible. You will likely need caster pucks in the LCA to get the caster right after doing this. Mine is setup like this, on 245 fronts with 5mm spacers to widen the track further, and is far from rubbing. If you wanted wider tires you would have to bring it back to the centerline of the car some, then end up at about the same outside tire face position/track, if that makes sense. I have not tried that yet.

996 is very sensitive to alignment.
who is setting it up for you?
how wide front you run? I would run 9" min,
how much front camber?
are you toe out up front?
ur bar. setting?

u should have no prob turning in with GT3
