996 GT3-RS Top wing / Spoiler on 996 GT3
I'm sure this is a Noob question but I cannot find the answer upon searching. If one wanted to add the 6-GT3RS rear spoiler/ top wing onto a 6-GT3 does the RS wing it just bolt on top of the existing 6-GT3 rear decklid using the same decklid/uprights/attachment point as the standard GT3 wing? Or is it an entirely different rear decklid on the RS? If not what other options exist?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, the factory RS wing blade does bolt right up. Other options in that same design include Getty and MShaw. I believe Getty has the RS wing blade in the factory length as well in a larger size.

I tried to buy one from Mike Shaw, but he is either mostly retired or just doesn't care anymore.
Getty sells P/N GT3-03 for this application.
Both Getty and Shaw will admit, if pressed, that either the CFRP or Fiberglass wing, will require cosmetic attention prior to installation.
Maybe Ken W, a RL'er from Canada, that has purchased the getty wing will chime in.
He is happy with the purchase.

Yes, the genuine RS wing is definitely a direct bolt on using the same hardware. That wing is just about the most expensive part on my car

I suffered "wing envy" for 11 years, finally got that fixed!
The wing comes out of the mould, it might need a touch up or two at the edges, then it is best to clear coat it.
Looks great and functions very well, I am pleased and recommend Getty.

It's plug and play but tell you removing those painted plastic covers to get to bolt is pita. I wrecked them(why they made it so damn difficult to remove wo damaging the covers is beyond me). Anyway if it happens when u try to pry them out is can order a new painted set from Eric the plug guy.

Just to chime in here, yes, Getty is a VG choice. Like Ken, mine required some prep and work to have the clear applied with no pin holes etc.
I'd say I got a 90% finish, cost me $500 to do the wing and end plates. It requires many coats of clear and sanding. I am only annoyed that my shop did not do what I asked for - the leading edges should be filled, masked, and painted black for a perfect slick finish. I guess we are quibbling here.
Unfortunately, GMG had supplier issues and no longer offered the GT3 spoiler last year. Probably for the same reasons, these are hard to finish 100% perfect.
More unfortunately, Manthey racing probably had the best stuff along with the factory - also NLA as of last year.
Getty is fine, just find a shop that will spend the time (or not) to get it to your personal finish expectations.
Cheers
