Default New GT2 for under dealer invoice

The dealer from whom I just purchased my GT3 tells me they have a new '03 GT2, Slate Grey Metallic that they will sell for a few thousand less than their cost --works out to $176,500.
PM me if you want further details. I have a copy of the dealer invoice. It's probably a real good thing he told me this after I bought the GT3, rather than before, since the price difference between the two would have had to include alimony as well!

Watt: Could you give me that lead -- I've got a buyer for it at that price.
Thanks.

John

I could be wrong but I think dealer cost on a bare bones 2003 GT2 is in the low $160s.

sharks you are wrong. dealer cost is 10 less window roughly. add 5000 holdback means they sell at cost at 15 under.

You probably know more than me, and the GT2 could be unique in that regard, but if dealer cost is $10 off, that means the mark up(not counting hold back) is only around 5+%. And that is extremely low for the auto industry.

I thought I saw someplace that Porsche, like many high end cars, did not have a hold back.

as slow and posing as i am, this happens to be a market i know cold. better not to guess or generalise.... maybe do some research? porsche not only jammed customers but dealers on gt2 pricing. and the market got even!!!!

SJsharks,
I've got the dealer invoice in front of me.
The base dealer invoice without any extras (like the $1908 charge for silver paint) is $171,495.
When you add all the xtras (Paint being the biggest cost), you get $177,461. Then they add the destination charge (765), Gas Guzzler (1300), Computer service charge (200) and a Preparation credit (-85) and the dealer cost is $179,641.
The MSRP on this car is $190,900 including all of the above. In other words, the dealer gets about $11K or around 5.5% if he can sell at MSRP. Not sure why a dealer would want to buy one!!
But these are the facts,

John

So you are saying that the GT2 has a narrower markup than other Porsche vehicles?

Do you know if the GT3 falls into this category also?

Thanks

No -- same % profit markup in the GT3 as all other Porsche models.

I can confirm that the dealer gets shafted on the GT2.Very low margin and way lower than a TT. Porsche does have a holdback based on meeting quota and Customer Satisfaction.

We got shafted because the GT2 was to be a limited production car built for two years only. Yeah. Sure. I am losing some of my admiration for the marque. Then again I have PCCB on my GT2 like everyone else.

Bob
Bob: While there will be more than 2 years of production, the overall number of cars is still quite low -- total North American run for all years ('02 thru '04) will be less than 225. That's limited productioin, no?

I'm betting Wattster that GT2 prices are going up in the future -- that's why he's trying to corner the market on them as I write this. He's planning on dumping GT2's to depress market prices -- he hates to lose a bet!
