The dealer from whom I just purchased my GT3 tells me they have a new '03 GT2, Slate Grey Metallic that they will sell for a few thousand less than their cost --works out to $176,500.
PM me if you want further details. I have a copy of the dealer invoice. It's probably a real good thing he told me this after I bought the GT3, rather than before, since the price difference between the two would have had to include alimony as well!

jack,
over the last 4 months i had 3 different cars in the low 150's but none at this moment as i'm not in the market except for one bid i have out on an 262 mile 02. i'll send u the next one i see, but you'll have to grind for the price yourself!!!

You probably know more than me, and the GT2 could be unique in that regard, but if dealer cost is $10 off, that means the mark up(not counting hold back) is only around 5+%. And that is extremely low for the auto industry.
I thought I saw someplace that Porsche, like many high end cars, did not have a hold back.

SJsharks,
I've got the dealer invoice in front of me.
The base dealer invoice without any extras (like the $1908 charge for silver paint) is $171,495.
When you add all the xtras (Paint being the biggest cost), you get $177,461. Then they add the destination charge (765), Gas Guzzler (1300), Computer service charge (200) and a Preparation credit (-85) and the dealer cost is $179,641.
The MSRP on this car is $190,900 including all of the above. In other words, the dealer gets about $11K or around 5.5% if he can sell at MSRP. Not sure why a dealer would want to buy one!!
But these are the facts,

I can confirm that the dealer gets shafted on the GT2.Very low margin and way lower than a TT. Porsche does have a holdback based on meeting quota and Customer Satisfaction.
We got shafted because the GT2 was to be a limited production car built for two years only. Yeah. Sure. I am losing some of my admiration for the marque. Then again I have PCCB on my GT2 like everyone else.

I'm betting Wattster that GT2 prices are going up in the future -- that's why he's trying to corner the market on them as I write this. He's planning on dumping GT2's to depress market prices -- he hates to lose a bet!
