HELP: Preparing to order my options for my GT3: Any tips??
I am so excited that I have finally decided to purchase a GT3. Now the fun begins in choosing my options. My goal is to keep the minimalist approach and keep the price down on the car, but I don't want the interior to be "low rent". Please let me know what you guys think of the following option choices.
Exterior: Carrera White, Arctic Silver or Black
Interior: Black
Mandatory options:
573: A/C
P74: Xenons
XSX: Red seat belts
CPZ: Thicker steering wheel
X71: Aluminum dials
I am also considering the following:
49: Full leather
XMP: Leather sun visors
CPT: Leather storage lid w/ crest
Z84G: Deviating red stitching on seats
Z88: Door & dash red stitching
What parts are covered in leather in the full leather (#49) package?
What is the standard material on the sun visors?
Which option is the deviating stitching for the steering wheel?
Thanks guys for your help.

I also would not choose white unless you are going to make it look like an RS? The car looks better in red , blue or yellow. However colour is a very personal thing.
Whatever you select you will have an awesome car!

Pete,
It is only over 100 degrees maybe 120 days out of the year. Do you think AC is a must?

i ordered almost the same options except no full leather. i ordered the deviating stitching in the seats, however i bought the euro gt3 seats after my order. you may want to consider these additional cosmetic options that i added.
CUV storage compartment lid w/ gt3 logo
z0997 custom tailoring
z099 all exclusive options dev stitiching
(hoping that it will do the steering wheel and storage lid in the deviating stitching)
don't waste your money on floor mats, get the mats that viken has.
i'm also in vegas, where and when are you getting the gt3. i have a march delivery.

A/C and full leather are certainly dispensible.
I echo MadCapLaughs re: A/C, and I'm in "the South." It raises more eyebrows here, but it's a way to go.
Leather is something to care for that adds zero performance.
The bottom line is determining your intended use for the vehicle. I wanted an ultimate DE machine, in the tradition of the RS of old. Others seem to want a grand touring car. (I'm not sure the GT3 is an appropriate candidate for grand touring in that is has no sound deadening and a very firm suspension. Also, no sunroof, low-grade stereo, no PCM, etc.)
So, my recommendation for options would be PCCB, Xenon headlamps, and thicker wheel. (period) My $0.02

>>my recommendation for options would be PCCB<<
Even with all the negative chat on this subject? I assume you own PCCB and have had good experience with them.

gt3: delete A/C, absolutely no options.
then add GT3 seats.
add harness and roll bar or roll cage if tracked.
i am trying to delete passenger seat, wife was not happy

No A/C means bad re-sale. No one want's to buy a car w/o ac. With a black interior in vegas, you want it. Plastic dash looks cheap, so I stress the full leather. These guys w/no options are just interested in tracking mostly...That does not sound like your MO. If your going all the way with this car, do the interior right so that you will be happy with it. Most people who don't buy full leather wish they did, except for the poster's on this thread recommending against it....By the way, A/C is a free option if you did not know that already. You have to request to delete it....

The extremes are easy to identify, one can either option the car for track performance or cosmetics! Any other package will be a compromise (which is fine too here in the US).
Exterior Colors: for resale value I think the entire 996 model line is completely overloaded with shades of silver, gray, dark blue, and black (fashion driven?).
Air conditioning. I have had several cars without AC so there is a market, but a very small one in the US. Las Vegas and air conditioning go together! For resale, most track nuts would not rule out an AC fitted GT3 car because they could always remove parts of the system to reduce weight and power consumption. In additon, the used car buyer would not be paying extra for this AC since it is standard on the 2004 GT3.

I don't see the GT3 as to full blown track car, I see as the car the 996 should be - GT3RS is a different story. Because if this I would recommend the full leather, A/C and thicker steering wheel, anything else is purely cosmetic (and very expensive).
I have Xenons, currently they suck and are actually dangerous, they come from the factory pointing too low and are impossible to adjust yourself.
I specified deviated stitching only on the dash and doors, but was delivered also on the seats and wheel - looks very good. I'm guessing because of the Full Leather and Thicker Steering Wheel options...
PS: Who the fun needs leather sun visors?
