sorry, don't think I have any pics of that rebuild. Got lots of pics from an Alfa twin spark I built in my own garage simultaneously, but I guess ppl aren't interested in that here

Nice look! What size spacers did you use?

26mm in front. Not sure about rear spacer- it was on the car when I bought it. Around 1 inch I guess.

Nice! That's a fair bit of extra ET, any issues with rubbing?

interestingly enough the car feels much more stable on the road and less "jittery" in the front. Could be due to that the tires track better when wider in the front. Feels a bit sluggish in the turn-in, though. We'll see how it acts on the track on Tuesday

Sweet ride! Guess it was M-tech doing the build?

Had 2 996 earlier and would have been nice to up the power!

Please drop by PCS autocross (slalom) at Lunda east of Uppsala! Would be nice to see and hear it!
Oh, and no 996 modified or not have set a better time than my 944 S2 cab...And there are usually many 996 there. Up for the challenge? ;-)

hi there!
actually Levin Racing built the engine.
Possibly the 12th August event I could join, but why don't you join on Mantorp Tuesday? It is a Drivers Club event and normally a number of great drivers with great cars.

I ran a 968 for a number of years and I can understand you are very quick in the slalom. Never tried it myself though.
cheers

So the summer is over and it is fall over here in Uppsala, Sweden. I am still driving my 996 but worn out cup 2:s are probably not ideal for my winter commute so it is only a matter of days before garaging for this year. Time to do some reflection.

I managed 5 track days with the car. Everything worked perfectly mechanically. From a driving POV I am not really happy with the handling (motor is a dream!!). When really pressureing the car it is a bit vague when on the limit. I think it suffers from that I can only set -1.8 camber max in the front. Tires wear on the outside shoulder a bit too much. Don’t get me wrong - I can still push some quick laptimes, but it’s not really consistent. Generally I drive it on par with our full race E36 M3 - Porsche faster on the high speed tracks and BMW on the twistier (Beemer is 100 hp down) Also I find the suspension a bit saggy on the limit. For next year I need to sort out the camber and get some real r-tires instead of the cup 2:s which is a bit too much of a compromise. Unfortunately more grip will obviously stress the suspension more so we will see how it goes. All in all a good track day car but needs some tweaking to become great! I guess that’s a good thing - what ever would I do this winter if the car was finished.
cheers
