Default Another fuel pump story

My fuel pump failed and left me stranded. Hindsight, it gave me subtle warnings. My car starts consistently on about 2 crank rotations, but on 2 occasions, it took more than a few cranks to start. Replacing it was pretty easy. Only issue was I had just filled the tank and had to siphon about 1/2 of the gas out. Out of curiosity, I took apart the fuel pump and from the pics, you can see the armature had worn down completely as had one of the brushes. These motors are completely submersed in gas and rely on fuel to provide cooling and lubrication. Good thing I changed my filter!

I bought the new pump off amazon. It has become increasingly convenient to order car parts at night and have them show up by the next afternoon.

That is awesome and thank you for sharing. It's always neat to see the inner workings of components and their faults or cause for removal and replacement. I wonder if mine is starting to look like that inside the gas tank due to in service life and time.

I agree that Amazon is a great supplier for certain parts and love their fast delivery and sometimes low prices
