In unrelated news, we had to put down our most recent addition to the family. We adopted a senior dog last weekend that had a myriad of issues. I came home Saturday and he suffered a stroke/seizure that left him stationary. When we took him to the emergency vet he couldn't sit, stand, lay without support. While at the dog ER he had another stroke/seizure which made the decision to let him pass easier.
It was a tough weekend because the poor guy had been neglected his whole life. Thankfully we were able to show him the unconditional love he deserved. At least he died knowing he was loved. End of sob story.

Sorry about the dog. As much as that sucks, it's also a reminder that there are bigger fish to fry in life than an undiagnosed engine issue. I hope you guys wind up deciding to rescue another dog...there are plenty of 'em needing homes.

We just finished extracting the engine from the BAT 996.
gnarboski's car is next, though its likely 3 weeks away. He's on my reconstruction side of the house now, so in that case we'd likely wait 6-7 months before extracting the engine. In this case I will do it when we can, so you guys will be satisfied :-)

The paperwork that I have, states the car will be done around Feb 28th and the car needs to be at FSI by Nov 1st. Any activity that happens before then is a plus that goes above and beyond what I expect. I really don't care when activity starts on the car because the end result and timeline will stay the same.
Its actually been a nice few weeks, I've pushed the car into the attics of my life. You should try researching vehicles for around a year knowing the failure points. Then when you finally pull the trigger, the car self destructs 70 miles into your ownership. So goes life, at least my golf game has been getting much needed attention.

So, it is just going to get pulled and built and nobody will know the story?
You should put a warning at the beginning of this post that you are wasting your time reading it if you want to know what happened to the motor! It is like reading a who dunnit novel only to find out it was nobody's fault just an accident.....

Was thinking about your thread last night and reread most of it this morning... Such a shame , it must be so frustrating to think that it all started back in April and here we are in July and you still don't have your car. I'm a relatively new owner, 3 years this past June, and picked up mine under similar circumstances (we drove up to Virginia and back to Tampa) but with much different results. I'm hoping that it all works out well for you. Ralph
