New to Me 2000 C2 Cab
I took delivery (on a nice sloppy, snowy, crappy Saturday morning up in Northern CT) of a 2000 C2 Cab with 25k miles this weekend after 6 months of casual looking and 3 months of real searching. It is my first Porsche....hopefully the first of more to come.
Thanks to the info gleaned from this forum over 6-7 months of reading and asking some questions, I was fairly well informed (for a newbie) before my purchase. I've got a lot to learn and I am sure these pages will help. Thanks to all who contribute.
Car is near perfect inside and nice on the outside. I swear one of the PO's washed it with a Brillo pad....but the swirling should be able to be handled with a good detail. Didn't want to get a dark color, but this appeared to be a good specimen otherwise.
Car has LN IMS Retrofit. Making arrangements for new shoes, AOS, and waterpump, as well as brake fluid bleed/refill. Not confident enough to tackle the AOS as my first service on the car.
PO was a nice guy to work with and even delivered the car to me (2.5 hrs away) in exchange for a ride home and some Dunkin Donuts on the road.
BTW....any pointers on a good site for a copy of the owner's manual. PO said he had it, but he didn't....
Thanks for the assistance and the knowledge,
Dan
PS, please ignore the state of my nasty fence, I leave it up to **** off the neighbor...

Nice car, the shot with the top down, wind blocker up, and the background looks great.
For owner's manual, search Internet on "996 owners manual" and there is a PDF for the 2002 996. Which probably will have some differences from the 2000 version but may be useful.

It is a a nice spot...a great spot for 4th of July fireworks....you can see them all through the CT river valley in Massachusetts and even up in to VT, lol. Sort of a NNE facing slope near the CT MA border where the notch in the CT state line is.
I have basically the same pic from the day I picked up my Road King, too, lol.

Nice ride Dan.
The car looks great and I love having the hard top option.
If you really want to **** your neighbor off, take a chainsaw to the top of your fence and cutout the image of your new P-car. Post pics after please.
Enjoy!

Nice cab! 25k miles is amazing ... and I agree, those swirls shouldn't be too problematic. The paintwork on these cars is really quite good. And the color is great; on a sunny day she's going to turn some heads.
A "near perfect" interior is impressive. The outside bolster on the driver's seat of earlier 996's wasn't very durable, so you'll see a lot of them (mine included) that are somewhat beat up. The center console gets its share of scuffs also. Some people complain about the base 996 interior having a lot of plastic. I actually think it's pretty well suited for a cab, as it cleans easily.
I don't have a scan of the owner's manual, but as someone else posted, Google is your friend. You might also want to pick up a pdf copy of the 996 parts catalog, if you don't already have one:

Fluid changes are a good idea if you don't know the car's service history. When I got mine I changed the coolant. brake fluid, and power steering fluid. That was either overkill or cheap insurance, depending on how you look at it.
I took my cab out today for the first drive of the season, then to the monthly PCA meeting this evening. It needs the usual spring maintenance, plus there are a couple minor issues to be fixed. Still, I was reminded how well made it is, and how much fun to drive even with the top up. As we head toward summer, it'll only get better!
Again, congratulations on the acquisition (and welcome to the Slippery Slope ;-).

I'm sure if I post a pic of the rear, someone will point out that my motor mounts need replacing, Bill, lol.
