Not to hack into this thread, but there is a 99 996 on Autotrader with a Flat 6 Innovations engine for high 20s. Slakker's car and the Autotrader one are good reference points for the value of such beautys. Good luck Slakker! Here is the Autotrader ad: I thought you would like this 1999 Porsche 911 for $29,500 on Autotrader

If this keeps up, I may have to think about selling upgraded 996s!
Oh wait, nope.... Can't do that without regretting it later!
This is as close as you'll get to buying a car from me, and there's 4 to choose from at the present!
And before you think about it, don't ask me or anyone at FSI questions about these cars!!!!! Email the dealer!
That 22k mile Boxster S with the new engine is da bomb!

Another passive commenter that obviously has never owned or maintained a Porsche 911 and is clueless about normal bolster wear on seats that are more than 18 years old.

As the original owner of his car it sounds like gnat still needs to learn how to drive a stick.
And since when did the transmission become a major point of concern on a 996? The MT is really one of the strengths of the car.

It is HER car, I just signed a big fvcking check for it
We've both put multiple 100s of Ks on MT and have never had issues. Don't know what the deal is, but I'm far from the only one to have to rebuild/replace the trans with less than 100k on it.
Honestly had we noticed it sooner the detent fix may have pushed it out longer, but we didn't so we chewed up that synchro.

Ok, I'm done venting. I don't think it will make any difference in the outcome so no harm no foul.

Nah it was nothing about your car. Jake just said he doesn't see C4s with 2nd gear issues. Was just giving him a data point and clearly pointing out that it wasn't the classic detent fix that it required. Nothing more.
