No. Remove negative terminal first, then positive terminal. Nothing weird will happen. If you have the electronic hood release, don't close your frunk lid with the battery removed. Also, roll down at least one window all the way before disconnecting the battery.

Or you could plug one of those battery doo dads into the cig lighter hole that will keep the system on with the battery out. That way you won't lose stuff like window drop settings, radio codes, etc.

^^If you are going to maintain 12V power to the car as suggested, when you disconnect the positive terminal make sure you have a towel or something to wrap it in as insulation because it will still be "live" and you don't want to have it touch anything.

What year? Pre 2003 needs radio security code.
All need window stop reset to enable one touch up/down and should have throttle reset, both of which you can do after reconnecting the battery.

Just replaced the battery on my 04
no problems at all.
Needed to reset the windows and E-gas was all
while the batery is out, remove the battery tray, clean and respray it
