Top won't finish closing
So, I took out the console to install shift bearings. After putting back together the top sill not finish closing and leaves a top alarm. The front windows work and roll up in the " too down" mode, but when I try to put the top up it continues to latch, unlatch, latch, unlatch,... the rear windows will not work because the cycle cannot finish.
Is there an interlock I missed? Is there n adjustment I can make...the top actual closes without a gap but does not finish.
HELP!

I just looked at a car that had this problem. The owner said it was pretty common. I think his solution was actually to put some pressure on the hook as it is hooking in...think that was what it was...I did it and it closed. I think he said something about a microswitch in the receiver where the hook latches and that wear on the tip of the hook causes it not to depress the switch properly....something like that. On Pelican Parts, another comment was to slide a small bladed screwdriver in along side the hook and try to depress the switch and see if that works.

I had this exact problem. Take a picture of your locking hook and post it here. If it's missing the plastic cover, then the convertible top will never latch. As a temporary workaround, you can use the eraser side of a pencil to gently press on the sensor where the hook latches. Slightly press and hold the sensor in place until the process of closing the top is completed.

The microswitch in the header is easy to switch out. I had the same problem, and replacing the switch fixed it. (I did use a screwdriver to make everything work until I got the switch in). Be sure to order the little press on "nuts" that hold the switch in. They don't come with the switch, and the old ones wouldn't work a second time for me.

stand at the drivers side door and use the key in the door lock method. Use your right hand to fold the canvas back into the rear window as the top is closing down. The canvas needs to fold correctly to complete its cycle.

Winner, winner chicken dinner!!!
b3freak you, sir, are a steely eyed 996 specialist and I thank you for your input.
Is this place great or what???
I do remember hearing a crack but couldn't f ind any parts or parts missing. Apparently the tip of the plastic cover sheared off some way...alignment seems OK now.
Again much thanks.
