Default Porsche Remanufactured Engine Info and Name This IMS

Hi All,

As I continue digging out from my money shift (an awesome thread you can see here: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...ft-begins.html) I have gotten to the stage where I am getting the donor motor ready to go into my car.

A couple things I have found.

1. There is an AASCO Flywheel, which is kinda nice.

2. It is a remanufactured engine. Question on the engine, is there a way to figure out from the serial number what year the engine was installed? The serial number is: 04AT66Y66853. Trying to figure out the approximate mileage that is on the motor, which I can do via carfax (although a motor replacement is not on the carfax).

Also, which IMS is this? I think it is what Porsche provided during the remanufacturing process, but wanted to confirm.

That looks like the stock 997 single row large bearing.

No one knows. The data to create a "rate" doesn't accurately exist.

I have seen 3 of them fail in the last 11 years. Don't worry about it.

At maximum just remove the outer bearing seal and let it fly. There's no use in doing anything else, most of which will cause problems.

Suggest you ask for opinions on this and research the LWFW issue.Your old DMF is still within spec?

I actually do not plan on using the AASCO. It's nice, because I'm sure I can sell it for something. Going to stick with the stock set-up.
