I got the rein from amazon for about $136 a pair shipped. I have the found the part number on rockauto.com and then searched on amazon for them. Just like my original Porsche mounts that had both collapsed.

 

Function First is a pretty active vendor.

Not sure if they still make these but mine have been bulletproof.

 

For what its worth, I went with genuine. Figured these are only going to need to be replaced once while I own the car so I might as well spend the extra $. I put together a video documenting the replacement : https://youtu.be/nDndZpfchbk

A couple tips that will save you some headache:

1. Get the corresponding nuts that go with the mounts (the big 18mm ones on the bottom). They're like $2 each and you only need 2. Mine were rusty, and as you'll see in the video one of them didn't even come off.

2. Spray the nuts with some oil prior to trying to break them loose. I twisted a 3/8" extension trying to break them loose initially.

Replaced the mounts this afternoon.

 

I went with Rein a couple of years ago and have no complaints. I heard somewhere that Rein is the OEM provider for Porsche, but I cannot find a confirmation. They appear identical.

 

Unless you are tracking the car actively, there is absolutely no need for semi solids or similar. I had RSS mounts in for a while and couldn't wait to get them out and put the OEM ones in. Why put up with all the vibrations and additional noise when there is no reason. You forget with those semi solids what a great comfortable car you had.

 

I ordered Torque Solutions Semi Solids, and waiting for delivery. Comfort is relative to each individual's preference. I have always preferred a very firm and crisp ride, with very flat cornering. I ran full track setup on my old 993, and loved it. Currently have Pss9s, set quite stiff, and considering firmer springs as I find I would like closer to a track setup on this car also. I loved semi solids on past 911s, and am certain I will prefer them on my current 996.

 

Amazing how much better my car shifted after replacing mounts. Went with Reins, indistinguishable from OEM.

Take a look at how much this swap pulls up the exhaust tips to the body. I suspect every single 996 needs this update if not already done.

This is what I see across various websites too, that Rein is the Original Equipment part manufacturer for the engine mount. I've replaced my original Porsche mounts with Rein branded ones and the two parts are identical except that one comes with the Porsche part number & Brand decal. Oh and the royalties of the Porsche tax. The other the Rein part comes at a nice affordable price and performs the same.
The best deal so far on these is on amazon, I'm sure the Amazon seller is stoked that word is getting out about his steal of a deal.
