Not a big fan of Tag-Huer but, If you are in the market for a watch that has a Porsche connection, you might think of looking at the Porsche Design collection.

I always wondered, is Porsche Design affiliated to Porsche cars?! reason am asking is that the font isnt the same, kind of like they found a way around it but couldnt use the same font...

legally, Porsche Design Management GmbH & Co KG is not part of Dr.Ing.h.c.F.Porsche AG.

Of course, Porsche Design was founded by Ferry Porsche's son, Ferdinand Alexander. Ferdinand Alexander designed the shape of the "Typ 7", which inspired the 901 (later called 911) design.

Also, Prof. Ferdinand Alexander Porsche is a member of the supervisory board of Porsche AG.

Tag Heuer has a historical connection racing more so than Porsche. The Carrera watch is not named for the Carrera car so much as the Carrera race (Mexico) that the Porsche Carrera is named for....same goes for the Tag Heuer Targa Florio which has nothing to do with the Porsche Targa, but the also defunct race, I think in Sicily.

Porsche design watches...I think of them kinda like the "Hot Wheel" 911 I had as a kid...

KWC4S -- Concur. I do not think either the Porsche Design watches or the Tag-Huer are a value at their price point when you consider how some of the true fine watch brands retain their value over time (excuse the pun!!). Although I don't want to start the whole watch thread all over, I moved to a Rolex GMT II over 20 years ago because it met my global time needs, and I got it in St. Thomas for $850 -- about half what it cost in the states at that time.

Patek makes a very similar looking watch that's an automatic the 3970P it's my dream watch. I just can't justify selling the P-car to buy it.
