Default 996 Ignition Sitch Issue

I installed a GM LS3 in my 2000 996. Must say that 500 HP is a wicked ride!!
I start the car and when moving key to the "OFF" position, the motor continues to "RUN". I remove the key and everything shuts down. I place the key back in the ignition and no power until I turn the switch on. The only way to kill the engine is to remove the key.
When I installed the engine, I powered the GM fuse box by splicing into the group of orange wires on terminal "S98" of the switch. I checked power at this terminal with everything off and no power. Turn the key on and get 12 volts. Turn the key off and I still have twelve volts. Remove key and no power. I thought my switch might be bad, so I replaced the switch, but same situation. I then thought maybe I had spliced into the wrong wire. I checked power at the 3 red/white wires - Power at all times. There is a Black/Yellow wire on terminal "50" that has no power in off position. Turn to on and power is present. Turn engine over and get a "No Start" on the engine. Any ideas appreciated. I can't find any wiring diagrams/which wires do what anywhere in the forum or on the web.

The radio continues to work when the key is switched off but left in the ignition. Might be related to that. PM me with your email address and I will send you a DropBox link with the shop manual in a searchable PDF format. It includes all the wiring diagrams which should help.

But then you have to let me drive the thing

Paging Dr. Slakker... paging Dr. Slakker...

If I recall, he recently did a major rewiring in his race car, so prolly has some good tips.

The ignition switch is an ongoing PITA for many of us - and when they crap out (the electrical part of the switch), the car does very strange things. Assuming you grabbed the correct wire, it may be time to swap out the electrical portion of the ignition switch. Loads of DIY's here.
