I did one of those build a 718, and got the price down around $75k. Guessing that based on history, 6 years after I drive off, it'll be worth about $20k. gulp. Ya can't win! No one gets out alive.

Wouldn't a Corvette ZR1 be a more logical choice? I have a 2016 Vette Stingray Convertible with the 455HP engine. IMHO it's a beast so I cannot imagine the power of 650HP in this car. Maybe he needs more room? Then the CTS-V makes sense.

I don't see the OP looking to be talked out of selling the 911 at all. Even touted a Prius' advantages over the Porsche. The 911 is obviously not for everyone.
That said, I've had a 348ts, 993's, a 914 2.0, several variations of 944s, an early Lotus Esprit, a late Lotus Esprit V8, buncha Corvettes, spent a lot of time in a Hennesy Venom Vioer 650R- and at the end of the day, my '99 911 is the best/favorite car for me. The others all had cool qualities, but an extremely narrow focus as far as usability as a normal, fun car. Other than a Corvette or a really "up" 944, none of the others made for a good daily driver. And I like to use my cars, not store them, or save or preserve them for someone else to enjoy. I've spent more restoring old muscle cars (a lot more) than what I have in my 996, and it's still not about money. For me, it's about the driving enjoyment. So, if she blows up, I'll just fix it and keep on driving. It's only a car, a machine, and there's lots out there to choose from to fit anyone's needs. I've found the one that fits mine, good luck to the OP.

I'm not much of a Corvette fan except the 66 model. Doubt I'd replace it with anything. I'll just stick with my current herd.

New Corvettes are nothing like the older ones. Can't really explain but they are so much more competitive in areas like creature comfort while keeping the huge performance that's well documented. You gotta try one to really see the improvements. That said, I would not trade my 996 either. While the Vette is capable and comfortable with it's 8A tranny it's not a hoot to drive. The 996 is a hoot to drive!!

I'm thinkin' about buying this one for a song and dance. The owner apparently doesn't know he has a jewel. Wish me luck! (snicker)
