Default I can't decide what to do about my seats... recover, oem replace, or aftermarket

What's your guys' take on this one? My 04' TT has 106k miles on it and the PO let his big dog run around in it on weekly trips across the state. The interior held up pretty well considering, but there's a cut in the side bolster of the driver's seat. My car has the puke worthy grey interior so here's my choices... recover the seat in grey for about $400-$500 and then it won't match the others. Recover both front seats for double that. Replace them with a standard set of black seats from a 996/997/etc for about $1000-$1200... (can't justify spending $2k+ on sport seats)... or replace them with a set of reclining Recaro/Sparco types for around $1,200? I don't really care about resale as my car is modded out like a bratwurst burner already so that's not an issue. I think I'm leaning towards some racey'ish seats a'la Sparco/Recaro.

What do you think?

The idiot in me likes these for some reason, even though I'd NEVER actually have the ***** to do it:

I actually really like these except that they're not recliners and I need them to be so my 6 year old can get in the back seat:

My vote would be to recover the originals. If you like something different, the upholstery shop can put yellow piping or inserts in the originals. Anyway, that's my .02.

We've got a set of really nice black ones from a 996tt that were donated to the auto museum several months ago. I'm 90% sure they have crests in the headrests and are like new condition. The curator hasn't gotten around to listing them for sale yet. If you are interested, I would think he would let them go for around a $650 donation to the museum (I think that's what I told him they were worth when he asked me when they were donated). Shipping would be on you. Let me know and I'll ask him.

That sounds like a good deal. If mine weren't in really good shape I'd be all over that.

Check out Lseat leather covers to replace your current leather... You can upgrade those to add piping or change up the stitch colors... You could have them do the outside in black and the insides in grey or vice-versa. Chekkemout...

I bought a set for my car without any such upgrades for $325 from ebay. The upgrade options I mentioned above are very reasonable. I was very surprised by how much their "lark" color matches my Savanna Beige interior. They took a couple of weeks to arrive, but they seem to have done a good job (so far). I've not installed them yet, but seen good reviews of late on their fitment. I know they had some questionable reviews early on, but that could also be due to folds in the leather taking some time after install to smooth out.

My seats get recovered next Monday, so I should be able to give better firsthand review next week.

My only comment is that I have never heard the term "bratwurst burner" before and will be borrowing it!

I echo the comments from spud... I'd jump all over that deal from KC especially if they're the OEM sport seat with embossed logo. Those seats usually run about $2,000 used on eBay. I'm just glad mine are in perfect shape.

Well, to clarify, the ones that were donated to the museum aren't sport seats:

Never heard of them but their prices do seem reasonable with some nice customization options

Thanks for the suggestions guys... and KC I would have jumped all over your offer a few days ago but I'm leaning towards getting some aftermarkets.

Thanks guys.
