He can still do projector style aftermarket headlights but NOT the Porsche Xenon HID based system (i.e. Litronic) which Sweet Vic makes a great point about... it's more than just plug and play if the car is the base halogen system.

You are incorrect. They are plug and play. Ive installed 2 sets including the ones on my own car that had original halogens.

With the Litronics installed.

You should probably mention that you lose high beams and do not have auto leveling. (Which is illegal by the way)

I noticed this to be true as well, Has anyone done anything unique to repair? It appears when it finally deteriorates to the point that allows water to enter it could damage the electronics and connection points inside.

You don't lose high beams. You have a low beam Xenon and High beam halogen.

The only thing you don't have is auto leveling so you have to adjust the light manually with the manual adjustments. Works perfectly. Ive done it twice and my car works like this currently.

Here is another thread from a different user who did the same as I did and later installed the auto leveling module. http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...-leveling.html

I stand corrected. Thank you Moe! I was basing my comment on some of my previous cars that had Xenon HID options. If you tried to convert the halogen to Xenon projector HID style, the car would return a MIL and the headlights wouldn't function properly. Probably had something to do with the electrical load differences between the ballast based HID and the standard halogen tungsten based lights.

This is 100% false in the US. Same as the "headlight washers required with HID" myth. That's a European thing.

I am trying to find out if these lights (clear) were made for the '99-2001 cars.
Or would like to hear what some others have done. Have seen some new clear headlights on Ebay but the price is very high.
I welcome any advice you can offer.

And and on the other end of the spectrum...these are a completely custom HID build.
