Default Clear headlights - need advice

Have a 2000 996 C4 cab and am about to get it painted and want to change
the headlights out for the Totally clear (no orange).
Have been told the 2002 -2005 will not fit. They are a different shape I am told.
I am trying to find out if these lights (clear) were made for the '99-2001 cars.
Or would like to hear what some others have done. Have seen some new clear headlights on Ebay but the price is very high.
I welcome any advice you can offer.

That is correct. The mk2 headlights are different.

Yes, clear headlights were made for the mk1. My 01 has clear headlights.

Yes, you DON'T want the 996 turbo style or Mk2 Carrera type headlight enclosures.

Questions...

1. Litronics (i.e. HID) or halogen type?
2. OEM or aftermarket?
3. new or used (some used will be scratched and have oxidation)?

Hey guys thanks for your imput. From what I have read I don't think the HIDs are a good selection. THink I would go with Halogen aftermarket.
Does anyone know who makes aftermarkets? I want new headlights.

DEPO was one of the companies making an aftermarket projector style enclosure for the Mk1.

I believe you might be able to snag some on eBay.

Any reason you are opposed to the litronics?

Personally, I would get a used set and have them professionally stripped and coated. A small detail I would pay attention to is the gasket that goes around the perimeter. Over time it will deteriorate and cannot be purchased separately.

Had read that the litronics were tough to align. IS this true or not?

I actually just did this a few weekends ago. I found the task to be very simple and strait forward once I figured out where the adjustment screws were. Does your car currently have litronic head lights?

If you are patient you can find used litrnonics on eBay or craigslist for cheap. About 300 dollars each. Condition may vary but you could have them polished up and left like new. Thats what I did. Mine look basically new.

Think they are Halogen....whatever the 2000 stockers were.

Litronic headlights were an option, not standard. If he has halogens, it's a lot more work than just swapping the headlights. He'll need an additional wire harness, control unit, sensors, etc.
