Another where do you keep your phone thread
I have an upcoming DE and see in the tech form that any phones or cameras must be tethered. I recently downloaded the Harry's Lap Timer app on my (larger) Droid phone and wanted to use it next weekend. I have a suction cup mount for the front windshield however I would not trust it to hold the phone due to bumps and Gs.
What is recommended for a mount and tether solution?
TIA

These seem to be popular amongst the racers and rock crawlers.
Edit: realized you might not have a rollbar.
Edit: for non roll bar peeps, this one seems to be robust.

If you must have it, lock with the key in the glove box.

The one in the Jeep photos is Ram mount's generic phone/PDA/tablet mount - and that sucker grabs on and does not let go. You just have to make sure when you position the phone that the rubber grips are not pressing any buttons on the side of the device.

^^ I've used the ram windshield mount many times at the track with HLT and had no issues. They work great.

The Ram mount works really well for me....but like Cuda says - some regions don't allow.

To be honest I would keep it in my pocket or glove box.
For me, anything mounted to the dash is a no go when doing high performance driving. There's just too much risk of it coming loose. And more importantly, if anything were to go seriously wrong, you potentially have a heavy solid object loose in your cabin.
If you want to time laps, get something simple (and tactile) like a stopwatch. You can press the button without looking at it, it's light and safe, and won't fall loose.

Sand? What's wrong with a simple sundial mounted on the frunk?

HLT has video with overlay, shift light, +/- predictive sector and lap times, selectable ref laps, gsum charts etc etc... It has nothing in common with s stopwatch.
