Default Engine start sound

Since we have so many expert residents in this board I thought I'd get some opinions on whether there is anything abnormal, based on the starting sound, from this engine.

The video starts with key in position 2 hence the electrical noises.

Apparently the rear bumper missing at least one tapping screw (90014410102) ...

Cold start. Cranking a little slow. Some SAI pump like noise, otherwise sounds healthy to me. Can you unplug the SAI and retry?

Yes, I should've mentioned it was a cold start after sitting for a week.

And yes I thought it was a little slow - starter motor on its way out? New battery (and on trickle charger), new voltage regulator.

I guess the whirring sound is SAI - I'll unplug it next time I get it started and update this thread.

Thanks again Ahsai!

Could be a bad starter y-cable (e.g., if your voltmeter in the dash does not read 13.5v or above at all times) but it's not bad at all as is. Just a little bit slower, like parked for a week w/o the trickle charger.

It sounds like it cranks and starts fine. What's the problem?

I counted 4 cranks before it fired. There are big-bore V8 guys who would give a left nut for a car that fires after 4 SECONDS.

Ah the guy in the other thread could do with knowing this, if he leaves his car parked for a week.

Tried to unplug the SAI electrical connector as it sits in the engine bay. No luck. Too cold to start doing any serious work right now (I know unplugging SAI is serious work for me).

Nothing wrong with it,that I know of. Was just interested to know whether anyone could tell, from that sound clip, that my engine was acting funny or not.

LOL, V8 guys

That was my thoughts too. My SAI made the same sound (actually, a bit worse) for a week or so last year, then magically healed itself.
