Karl,

I know they will be loud, but can you give me an idea if there is a lot of resonation at certain RPM's? Are they so loud that they would be tickets magnets or could you get away with them on the street.

Thanks,
Jake
Jake,

There is no resonance at certain rpm's like some mufflers will do, they are loud at all rpms. I think whether they are ticket magnets or not will depend on where you live and how hard the cops are on this kind of stuff. They will definitely get you noticed. I know a few people (all based in NC come to think of it) have run them on the street without a problem. As others have pointed out, you won't make any friends with your neighbors.

Ghost Rider,

The bypass pipes are one solid piece, you can not use other tips with them.

They are barely louder than a Harley with the silencers pulled off.

Anyways, at least here in Canada, the loudness ratings are set only at I think either 2500 or 3500 rpm. As long as the exhaust is below the maximum dB level at that rpm, (no matter how loud they get at 4000, 5000, 6000, or 7000), they are approved.

You should check the state you live in for their requirements.

uuuuugh.... here in milwaukee that is considered "normal" and not loud.

It seems like the straight pipes don't get seriously obnoxious until gas is applied... on the video when he rolls away slowly there is some rumble and whatnot, but not any serious blasting... or am I on crack ???

I don't live in the "quiet" suburbs (I live in the loud city).... and to be honest people here don't give loud vehicles a second glance.....

Hmmmm... what to do.... what to do.....

All I know is that on my last vehicle (BMW M Roadster) I had a Barf&Barf Tri Flow and was SERIOUSLY dissapointed with the SPL output.....

I may wimp out on the straight pipes and get the fabspeed muffler... I just don't know..

contemplating in milwaukee,
trev

There is another manufacture that don't have tips installed that will allow you to add other porsche tips such as the twin S type tips.

Hey Nick just to let ya know there is a muff shop over here in Pasedina that will do a prime bypass installed for 100 American. You are right to much money. I have been thinking about a cat bypass and G pipe got em lined up we shall see .................

EXACTLY....a muffler shop could do it cheaper. I mean come on…$500 for 2 short pieces of pipe with tips. That’s a rippoff IMO. A muffler shop might charge $100 to make those.

As I've posted before on this topic, you can go to your local muffler shop and have a test set made very cheaply. Mine cost $20. Just pop off a muffler for them to use as a pattern. Both sides are the same. If you like the sound, you can go the cheap route and have tips welded on the mock ups or you can order the nice ones from Fabspeed.
