Default Back in the fold

Hi All-

8/6/2011 I said goodbye to my '90 944 S2 after 14yrs of owner ship, it was a sad day.

Fast forward to last week, I took possession of a beauty of a '99 996 C4.

Car was my father's and is now mine. He bought it new 7/28/1999 and promptly let it sit. I am not sure why or how, but he barely drove it. Actually I may have put on the bulk of it's only 5K miles (yes, he never drove it.) Guess I will have to break it in, 17 yrs late.

Anyway, I used to be fairly active in the 944 forum and have been lurking here for a while. I will make use of the search function and try not to ask too many knuckleheaded questions.

Cheers!

Welcome to the 996 forum family!!!!

More pictures please! This is a rarity. I hope you'll do the right thing and get all fluids and mechanics checked and up to date. As you know, even though it only has 5K miles, damage can occur from the lack of use.

All the best!

Nice. Aero pgk. Open the frunk, and find the option sticker just behind the latch on the hood. Read off the options there in the code, or just post a pic.

At that mileage, it's almost work keeping it time capsule and not driving it at all. Wait another 15 years, and the value will maybe skyrocket for that car.

5K miles? Wowza. Enjoy it and make up for lost miles!

I'm new to the Porsche fold myself, but super low mileage cars can sometimes be a bit of a pain when they start getting driven again - all those old seals might decide to start weeping so don't be shocked if you have the odd leak to track down but that's not the end of the world with such a low mileage car. Congrats!

Hey - congratulations! Looks good for so many miles *snicker*
Change oil/oil filter and drive it everyday. They love to be driven everyday.
Mine 99 C2 w/137K, DD, short trips, long trips, whatever. It's a great car.
There are no "knucklehead" questions and you will find a great support group here.

Wow! You need to put that on BAT immediately. Then with the new funds, go and get a ragged out TT like KC. LOL.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Here are the option codes. I have not looked them up yet:

Here is the window sticker:

I think it was just a C4 that the dealer threw a lot of CF interior parts on. The 4 spoke steering wheel and shift ****, I do not care for much.
I'm
Sadly the car did get a few dings sitting in his garage. Have a dimple in the driver's rear I need to take to a dent Doctor and scratch on the passenger side front fender. Previously, I had replaced the center console hinge for my father (that was a really bad design) and fixed the sunshade mirror door.

But it is sweet and great to be back in the P-car fold after 5 years.

Wow nice pickup. Really cool it stayed in the family!

No offense to your dad, but I just don't understand buying a car like this and not driving it. 5000 miles! Wow!

Nice to see another C4 aero. Seems most of the aeros are C2
