New 996 owner hello
Good morning and hello all!
Just wanted to say a quick hi, as I have been a long term lurker here. This forum is a wealth of good info .. and can provide some good nightmares if you focus on the worst of what can happen.
Last month I purchased a 996 after a lengthly (for me) search. Having previously owned a few 912's, an '85 911, and a 2005 997 (RIP), I'm glad to be back into 911 ownership. Nothing can scratch the driving itch as a 911 can.
My 996 is .. er was .. a one owner car, nicely optioned, painted in very subtle red.
Not unexpected, in my short ownership, my 996 has already needed a water pump, along with .. refinished headlights, climate control LCD replacement, new center caps and air box muffler delete.
Here are the particulars along with pics. Glad to be part of the 996 owners "club"!
2003 996 C2. 67k miles and climbing.

XME Rear Center Console in Exterior Color
XSA Sport Seat Back in Exterior Color
XSC Porsche Crest in the Headrest

Previous owner installed Fabspeed mufflers. Wow .. really nice sound!

Nice chariot! Absolutely love those seats. Would kill to have them in my c4s.
When you say reconditioned headlights, we're the covers getting scratched up or something?

Btbolin, the headlight lenses were quiet yellow, and just a tad bit hazy. If you looked closely you could see small surface cracks. I suspect normal UV damage from the Texas sun. $139 to get the headlights back to new looking. Worth every penny.
VitaminC, I removed the intake muffler that is bolted to the underside of air box top cover. I capped the hole with the "cap" that comes with the Fabspeed cold air intake kit. Awesome mod to get the engine to howl as it should.
