Depends how bad it is, I will usually use Iron-X or Sonax to clean the stuff that has caked on brake dust. My wheels are coated with Optimum Opti-Coat so very little sticks to them in the 1st place and I can ususally get by with cleaning them with ONR.

These are a god send for cleaning wheels though, wouldnt touch wheels without them after using them for the pass 3 years....

Love the wheel woolie kit.

Iron-X is what I use... its fantastic... I am running PRB 06/08 on my Sebro rotors so brake dust builds up really fast and dries like cement on the rims!

I bottle my tears every time something brakes on the car and use it to clean the rims!

Using Adams Polishes Wheel Cleaner. Turns purple, quick scrub and rinse.

P21 wheel cleaner works great too.

I find that baby harp seals soaked in ether work best. If you only club them lightly, they will wriggle around and do a better job.

Once you get them clean using whatever method, use some of that spray-on wheel protectant. I'm a believer now.

I quit using wheel cleaner after it etched my 986's calipers...

I'm a terrible owner and don't really do much to keep things clean. It doesn't make it go any faster, and I can't see it when I'm driving.

When I do clean them it's mostly with soapy water and a mop or something, doing the best I can.

Amazon sells a big (5 liter) jug of Sonax Full Effect for about $75. Far less expensive than buying small bottles for $20 each.

I just use brake dust colored wheels.

And I have always somehow found something better to do with my time than scrub my wheel wells. Kids and the 928 pretty much guarantee that.

You laugh, but I've been thinking about going gunmetal to see how long it would last between scrubbings
