Default ims labor cost?

I've searched and searched couldn't find about how much labor would be to replace the ims bearing. I'm in north alabama and have a 2000 c2 cab. I think I'm going to use the eps bearing at a cost of $450 What would be your estimate on labor?

I was charged for ~10 hours of work for the IMS, clutch, RMS. Shop rates in my area are ~100/hr.

Independent Porsche repair shop. Non-dealer.

FYI, you might want to look into the IMS guardian. It may be a better route than replacing your existing dual row IMS, which has a fairly low failure rate, with an "inexpensive" retrofit.

Well, while we're on the subject of "Indy"....

As far as I understand;
Indy = Indianapolis
Indie = independent (record label, repair shop, etc..)

Back to IMS labor quotes, I'm curious too..

There aren't any Porsche shops around me. Closest dealer is Huntsville about an hour away. Nashville and Birmingham are both about 2 hours away. Are there any Porsche mechanics in Huntsville AL besides the dealer?

^^^ This is a job for an indie (Indy?), not the dealer. I don't even think the dealer will do it.

So if you are looking for an Indie in Indy, is it Indies or Indys?

BTW: never could figure out were that extra i comes from. Shouldn't it be Inde?

Rob,

Don't sell yourself short on the IMS replacement. Schedule an appointment with Jake Raby's team to install the IMS solution or Retrofit... and while you're at it, replace the clutch. You won't regret it. Jake co-owns the patent on the most reliable IMS replacement for the 996.

His shop is located in Cleveland Georgia. I know that's a 4 hour drive, but make it a vacation and take your family to Babyland General - home of the cabbage patch doll. hahaha! After you soaked up with baby dolls, take a ride up to the mountains. It's a blast.

Cheers!

p.s. GooooOOoOoOOOOoo DAWGS!!!

Don't get him all excited since Raby's shop is working with a pretty long backlog.

I have the receipt for my IMS upgrade from the PO. About 10 hours labor, and they did the RMS while they were in there. About 1000 bucks total here in Santa Fe.
