Cool Fuel tank Size

Guys, my 2003 C4S will only take 55 litres of gas. Do I have a smaller tank than a C2, because of the four wheel drive takes extra space? Problem being I can only get 180 miles around town between fill ups.
Thanks for your help.

Porsche quotes a 64 litre tank for both the C2 and C4, for the UK market at least. maybe the calibration on your gas gauge is off and the tank isn't as empty as it reports?

For 01 the C4 definitely had a smaller tank than the C2.

Yours can't be smaller than my tt. When you say it doesn't hold more than 55 liters, how do you know you're starting at empty. When my warning light comes on, there are still at least 3 gallons in the tank (about 12 liters), so typically, I don't add much more than 12 gallons. AS

I have driven the car till the distance left says 7 miles, it then suddenly dropped to 2 miles and was starting to run rough. So chickened out and filled up with gas. I brimmed the tank and it took only 55 litres. It just seems strange that the tank is so small. On a run it's better, but still only 250 miles range. I just wondered if any of you guys have experienced the same problems. The handbook says 65 litres by the way.

Range is a function of MPG average via the computer.
Heavy foot equals less range...10mpg would be in a range of 150 mi.
The reserve light is calculated in the same way, by range on remaining fuel, not actual quantity of fuel in tank.
On a recently completed 4700 mi hwy trip my best MPG av was 28.3, upon fillup my range was 400+ miles.

Doesn't the range alert still leave a reserve in the tank? I've never experienced rough running at ultra-low range readings. Could you have some water in the bottom, or sucked junk into the fuel lines? You might have to have the tank drained, and start over again. AS

The reserve light comes on when the remaining range is approx 40 mi as calculated by the av mpg by the computer.
If your av is 10 mpg, when you fill up you will only add approx 12 gal or less.

With a high MPG I have filled up adding 14 gal with no reserve light showing.

Tank refill cap for C2 is 16.9 gal, for awd models is 16.3 gal
