Yeah I'd seen the normal one before as well as the deep sump retrofits, that's the first X51 I've seen though.

Still say it looks cobbled together

Nice car Slakker...good luck with her.

Do you plan to do SP996 racing and/or TT or just AX and DE? Also, give us your impressions of the car once you get some seat time. I've toyed with the idea of SP 996 but I don't really have the spare time.

Just DE and AX for now. It has a log book and is ready to go for H class. But I think running SP 996 one day would be really cool.

Oh, great. First Vandersmith loading his "track" car to the hilt and now you. LOL. J/K. I'm jealous is all.

BTW, two small flaps are the only real thing that separates the X51 from the stock. One maybe able to argue the hinged door aspect too but I personally don't think that's as a critical difference than the two additional flaps of the x51 baffle.

Ya, I used to think Vandersmith's thread was awesome. Now I think it should have some kind of warning stating that modding and tracking has proven to be addictive and potentially fatal to your budget.

But damn it's fun!

Sweet! Which 996 variant will you pick up next? Seems like you need a C4 to use as your winter DD...

Great car for track. Would be nearly impossible to register it here due to smog issues.

Happy polluting!!!

Oklahoma has become incredibly progressive over the last 20 years. But the fact that we require NO inspection or emissions testing is one of the most bassackwards redneck things I can think of when it comes to cars.

FWIW, I believe the license plate I put on it is the first it has seen since 2006.

Not surprising considering most of your redneck peeps in office probably are muscle car enthusiast themselves. They're the ones that probably passed the no inspection/emmission rule.

The DME. This was the one negative this car had. But it was a dedicated track car so not unexpected. I know you hear of GT3s with 0 range 1s but those are the guys more concerned with protecting their investment than lap times. I'm assuming that the tune upped the rev limiter and that's the root of the mechanicals. If they were "money shifts" I don't think it would still be running.

Now I see why I couldn't get the guy to bargain much on these. They are like new! I don't really want the weight but the Fabspeed Super Cups will allow me to drive to AutoX without too much attention. I can always pull them back off at some point if I'm trying to shave 10ths.

Congrats on the new car!

It looks like there is more room for modification in the future too. So that should keep you busy.

I agree. Money shifts scare the hell out of me. One reason I love PDK.

Slakker,
Congrats on the new track toy. It looks like fun! If you ever get to Ohio let me know, Mid-Ohio, Nelsons, Pitt Race are my home tracks.
