Seems that I won't make it to KY to pick up the lady....
I'm now looking for a reliable transport company but it seems that there are lot of scams around.
Waiting for a quote from Ameri Freight. Seems they are one of the biggest players and - I assume - somewhat reliable due to their size/experience.
Any other suggestions here? (Louisville - Houston)

Finally arrived. First impression is fantastic. Interior looks much better than expected. Need to go through all the work for getting it onto the road here now. Smog test etc. May take a little.
Fantastic. Yesterday evening, I took my 996 for a quick ride just down the parking lot to the road and back after 10-15min.
On the way back, almost back at my parking spot the engine went off.
I thought that I might just stalled the engine, restarted it and parked the lady.
When I switched the engine off and stepped out of the car, I noted some serious "smoke" out of the engine and some serious smell of rubber. Took about 5min until it stopped.
Not sure what this could be. Need to investigate.
Would be just great news if this would be something major.
Of course, I won't move the car for now.

I would investigate something rubber coated has fallen on part of the exhaust.
Congrats on your purchase, remember, people have been in there doing things and touching and moving stuff around, so it could be they left something hang, or it fell or whatever, but from the description I would investigate around the exhaust first.
I talked to Tony of Today's European Car here in Houston.
He said that I would need to tow the car to his job. Based on my explanation, he is not able to assist/help with any kind of diagnose.
I did not expect this anyways.
I've crawled under the car/visual inspected the engine and exhaust but were not able to determine any cause for what have happened.
I tried if the engine would start but it did not. It sounded like you wanted to start the engine with a dead battery. That's definitely not the case.
Now with the long weekend coming up, nothing much going to happen.
I need someone to tow my car out of my parking garage first. 4th Floor.
My Porsche adventure starts off well, I would say.
