I am having an installer hardwire it into the ignition switch - now, I thought a visor mount made more sense, but he advocates the suction cups on the windscreen. What is the opinion/experience of the board? Pros and cons of each method? It will be to the right of the mirror, or left side of passenger visor.
Thanks

mine uses suction cups and sits very high to the left of the mirror. i put it here because i rarely use my visor but figure my passenger might want to at some point. its also closer to ME if some adjustments need to be made, althought i RARELY touch it due to the fact that i hard-wired it and also have the remote visual display behind my instrument pod glass (944 series, remember - late model dash) and have the remote audio control in the center console...

I bent the bracket that comes with it and tucked it up under the top leather piece on the left side where I can see it easily. If I want to conceal it I just flip the visor down (the sensor still is exposed and works).

From the Valentine site:
"SAFETY WARNING: Because a detector on a windshield mount or visor mount is not permanently attached to the car, it could come loose in auto accident, possibly causing injury."

Rob, do you have a pic of the bracket where it shows how you bent it? Did you just flatten it out?
winovin, how much are they charging you? This is a very easy DIY. I hardwired mine and also installed the remote display in about 30 minutes.

After looking at all options found the perfect fit. Escort just came out with a large rubber suction mount for the 8500 on series. If you then take the V1 visor mount and remove the clip , you can then slide the Escort bracket into the remaining V1 mount and voila you have a steady reliable mount for the windshield. About $20 for the escort piece and $10 for a V1 visor mount
