On Friday, April 29, 2016 at approximately 9:38pm, City of Riverside Fire, Police and AMR responded to Lincoln/Jackson Street in front of Arlington High School for a single vehicle collision with major Injuries.
A Porsche Carrera was traveling at a very high rate of speed on Lincoln Street from Van Buren heading towards Jackson Street, the driver lost control of the vehicle as it approached and passed Jackson Street. The vehicle skid sideways, went into opposing lanes, hit a curb, a few trees and ejected the Adult Male driver from the vehicle. A Juvenile female passenger was trapped inside of the vehicle and was extricated by Firefighters/Paramedics... Both Occupants were transported to a local hospital with major injuries.
Car parts were scattered throughout the scene, two tires/rims still attached to the suspension/brakes flew at least a hundred feet from the vehicle, with one of them found inside of the school parking lot...

This is horrible and shameful for a 40 year old man to jeopardize the life of a 13 year old child.
Just read a more up-to-date report on this and fortunately, both sustained non-life threatening injuries. The child had a seat belt on, but the man was ejected and probably did not. The airbags did not deploy. This may be because the car had a salvage title and was not restored properly (authorities state). The driver is also under suspicion of heavy drinking in addition to the wild driving which means once he recovers, the law will drop the hammer on this man for DUI, driving recklessly, and child endangerment.

I'm surprised that either of them lived based on the photo above.

Well, in my opinion, the only thing that kept the cabin from being crushed and killing both of them instantly was the roll cage that he installed. And the fact, that she buckled the 5-point harness helped save her life too. Thankfully she had more brains than he did regarding the seat belts. If you look at the other side, you'll see that the driver's side 5-point harness was not damaged which probably mean the moron was probably too drunk to care to buckle up which is why he was thrown from the vehicle.

That's why I continue to say that if I have to be in an accident like that, I want to be in the 996. I've seen numerous images like that leave you wondering how anyone walked away from it. Porsche knows how to protect the occupants even when they are acting like asshats.
Flying suspension with wheels still attached... That's a sh!tload of force

This is not the first 996 crash photo where I'm left in awe of the beefiness of the A pillars in our cars. Wow.
When you look at the sills, it starts to become clear just how much reinforcement there is around the passengers.

Three Wheelin'
Very lucky guy there.
Car took a massive hit to the driver's side rear quarter, looks like a tree or a pole. If that hit came one or two feet forward, driver would be a goner for sure.

Luckily neither hit their heads on the rollbar or they probably would have suffered fatal brain injury. Unless you have a helmet on, the rollbar is a dangerous addition to a street car.
