That the girl is in a home with the mother and a non-family-member male isn't a great situation; that the male in question is acting like a teenage boy trying to impress a girl he likes is even more worrisome.

I hope the mother keeps a close eye on this and has a very open relationship with the kid. Her life is much more likely to get screwed up; I wouldn't want that on my conscience if I was the mother OR the father in this situation. Dad needs to be around and participating in her life, not in jail for assault or slapped with a restraining order that prevents him from contacting the child.
