Default 996TT headlight upgrades

My 996TT is an 03, I am owner 4 and I've had it for 3 years. While it is now garage kept it was an outside car for the 1st 2 years of my ownership, unable to comment on before me. I have some discoloring that I believe is on the INSIDE of my headlights. I tried the 3M headlight refinish kit this weekend and they're a little better but still not great. Does anyone else have experience with the yellowing being on the inside of the headlight?

Has anyone here used a service light Lightwerks or The Retrofit source to clean up their headlights?

I'm thinking about sending them in to have them disassembled, refinished from the inside, have the projectors upgraded and possibly have the chrome bits painted black.

From what I've read, the 996TTs (maybe all 996s) have a factory film over the plastic that needs to be removed to make the refinish effective. Removing the film does take some doing/elbow grease otherwise it still looks yellow. Perhaps give it another go to see if that does the trick?

We wet sand and polish till it is clear again. Once it is clear we shoot the headlights with a clear coat so it doesn't happen again.

**you have to use a drill and the fine sandpapers to get the proper "cut" into the surface - those box products with instructions using your hand in circular motion is BS and doesn't work. of course as long as the fading is on the exterior of headlight.

there are several threads regarding this as well as my thread - fine sandpapers and a cream polish to finish off will have them looking like new.

Thanks for the pic alpine. I mean no disrespect but that doesnt look as good as I thought it would.
Do you have a pic on the car?
Did you have to leave the center parts grey?
Who did the job for you?

These are not my headlights. I was just serving up a pic of exactly what was in your description to give you an idea. The grey parts are actually the translucent plastic and you can always paint those black. In your description though, you only mentioned painting the chrome black. If you want an all true blacked out look, you need to paint all the clear inner plastic bezels too.
